🇺🇦 Meanwhile in Ukraine — telling Ukraine’s story to the world
Every day, millions of people see only fragments of what Ukraine is living through.
Our team of Ukrainian journalists works to change that — by reporting the truth, documenting courage, and amplifying the voices that Russia tries to silence.
We show what really happens on the ground:
— frontline stories and verified war updates
— moments of resilience and humanity
— culture, history, and the people who refuse to disappear
— the global solidarity that keeps Ukraine alive
We are fully independent.
No sponsors. No state funding.
Just Ukrainians doing everything they can to keep the world informed.
If our work matters to you — if our posts helped you understand Ukraine better, feel closer to its people, or stay connected to the truth — we invite you to stand with us.
Your support, even $3, keeps this project alive and ensures the world does not look away.
From the U.S. to the U.K., Canada, Sweden, Australia and beyond — readers from more than 40 countries already help us continue.

Twenty-one ballistic missiles hit Kyiv while another round of talks moved closer.
ㅤ
Russia struck the capital during a massive combined attack, killing two people and injuring 34.
ㅤ
Ukraine reported a major underground counteroffensive near Kupiansk and continued long-range pressure on Russian military and energy infrastructure.
ㅤ
Washington, Kyiv and Moscow moved toward renewed technical talks, with sanctions, territory and security guarantees still unresolved.
ㅤ
The talks may be technical. For Ukrainians, the stakes remain physical: missiles over the capital and a fight for ground near Kupiansk.

The accusation is no longer coming from Kyiv: Bill Clinton says Trump has abandoned Ukraine for Putin.
“I’m tired of the way we treat our allies like dirt,” the former U.S. president said, accusing Trump of finally doing what Clinton says he had threatened for years: abandoning Ukraine and embracing Vladimir Putin again.
The warning lands harder because it is coming from someone who once sat in the same office.
Trump has waived new sanctions on Russia, moved to import Russian diesel, pressured Ukraine over the war and entertained talks with Putin and Xi that could exclude Zelenskyy.
For Ukrainians, the frightening part is not that Moscow wants America to walk away. It is hearing a former American president accuse the current one of doing exactly that.
Russia has spent years trying to fracture the coalition behind Ukraine. Clinton’s warning is that the fracture may now be coming from inside Washington.
How do you describe life in Ukraine without words?
You don’t.
You just show the video.
Because sometimes life in Ukraine feels exactly like this: watching something terrifying unfold, having no idea how will end, and still hoping against all odds for a good ending.

As Washington opens the door to Russian diesel, Europe is moving to squeeze the system that produces and ships it.
The EU is proposing 31 new sanctions listings focused on Russia’s oil processing, refining and export capacity, stretching from St. Petersburg to Sakhalin. They are part of a wider draft package of 117 new listings targeting energy, finance, the shadow fleet and sanctions evasion.
The contrast is hard to miss. Trump is easing the path for Russian diesel while Europe is preparing to tighten the screws on the infrastructure and companies behind Russia’s energy revenues.
Same war. Two very different directions. Thank you, Europe!
Putin has finally found a comforting explanation for Russia’s war: apparently, it has spent four years losing to itself.
He is again insisting that Russians and Ukrainians are “one people.”
Convenient. When the “three-day war” turns into years, Kyiv still stands and the army sent to conquer Ukraine keeps paying for every kilometer, “one people” sounds much nicer than admitting Ukrainians chose to fight Russia and refused to be conquered.
Moscow wanted to erase Ukraine.
Ukraine answered by making the invasion fail.
This is what Russian “humanitarianism” looks like in Ukraine.
Russian troops throw explosives into the homes of ordinary civilians. Not military bases. Not command posts. Homes.
Yesterday, Steve Witkoff looked Vladimir Putin in the eye and called him a “humanitarian.”
Show him this.
Because while Washington praises the man who started this war, Ukrainians are still living with what his army does behind the word “humanitarian.”
Give Putin something, Zelenskyy warns, and he will come back for everything.
“I oppose any weakening of sanctions. I have always said this to our European partners, and I have said it directly to the U.S. administration.”
For Ukrainians, this is not about punishment for its own sake. Sanctions are leverage against a Kremlin that has repeatedly treated concessions not as an endpoint, but as room for the next demand.
“If you give Putin something, he will want everything.”
That is the danger of easing pressure while Russia is still waging its war: every concession risks teaching Moscow that aggression works.
Russia just suffered its worst personnel-loss day of the full-scale war.
Ukraine’s General Staff says Russian forces suffered a record 2,250 personnel losses in a single day on October 21, breaking the previous daily record of 2,200 set in December 2024.
Three of Russia’s five heaviest personnel-loss days have now come in just the past month.
That is what battlefield attrition looks like when it hits at record scale.
Talks reopened on a day Russia hit Kyiv.
ㅤ
Moscow agreed to resume trilateral negotiations with Ukraine and the United States after Russia struck the Ukrainian capital.
ㅤ
But the central disputes remain unresolved: territory and security guarantees. Starshield limits affecting Ukrainian military systems also remain in place.
ㅤ
Diplomacy may be restarting, but Ukraine is entering it with its security terms unsettled and a critical military capability still restricted.

Moscow agreed to new talks while missiles and drones were hitting Kyiv.
ㅤ
Russia launched a major missile and drone attack on the capital as it agreed to resume trilateral talks with Ukraine and the United States.
ㅤ
Territory and security guarantees remain unresolved. Starshield restrictions are still affecting Ukrainian systems, while Russia is planning another major increase in defense spending.
ㅤ
The contradiction is difficult to ignore: negotiations are reopening while the conditions shaping Ukraine’s security remain unsettled and Russia is preparing to spend more on war.

When a U.S. senator has to send Trump’s envoy a dictionary definition of “humanitarian,” diplomacy has officially become parody.
Republican Senator Thom Tillis did exactly that after Steve Witkoff praised Vladimir Putin as a “humanitarian.”
“WTF, Steve?” Tillis wrote, telling him to look up the word and ask the families of Ukrainian children Putin has kidnapped and murdered whether they agree.
That is the obscenity of this moment. While Russia keeps killing Ukrainians, Washington’s envoy is complimenting the man responsible, and another American politician has to explain what basic human decency means.
Some words should not need a dictionary. “Humanitarian” is one of them.
A Russian attack destroyed a dance studio in Kyiv that had opened six years ago.
The owner shared what the studio looked like before the attack and what remains of it afterward.
Trying to figure out how Russia captured the White House faster than the Donbas.
The tanks stalled in Ukraine. The talking points made it to Washington.
Apparently, propaganda travels faster than armor.
Ukraine is still fighting for its land while Moscow’s version of the war gets a much smoother ride in Washington.

A training flight just left Russia one Su-30SM lighter.
The fighter crashed in Kaliningrad region. The crew ejected and survived.
Su-30SMs are among the aircraft Russia has used to hunt Ukrainian air-defense radars with anti-radiation missiles.
This time, no Ukrainian interceptor was needed. The aircraft took itself out of the equation.
On the same day Russian strikes killed four Ukrainians, Trump’s envoy called Putin a humanitarian.
Steve Witkoff thanked Putin for releasing an American detainee, then told him: “You are a humanitarian also, sir, and I salute that.”
That word lands differently in Ukraine.
This is the president who launched the full-scale invasion. His forces are still striking homes, energy infrastructure and Ukrainian cities. People are still dying.
Diplomacy may require talking to Putin. It does not require rewriting what he has done.
Calling the man prosecuting this war a “humanitarian” while Ukrainians are being carried from the rubble is not peacemaking. It is a grotesque inversion of reality.
