I feel so fortunate that my job at @ISTRorg gives me the opportunity to debate and discuss how the development of knowledge can contribute to a better future with our members around the world. I don't take a moment of it for granted.
In Antwerp to visit the site of #ISTR2024 at @UAfsw with the chair of our @ISTRorg local host committee @peterraeym. Getting very excited about plans for next July!
Should you read this book? Are you interested in #volunteering #nonprofitorganizations #nationalstatistics @ilo #data? Short answer: Yes. I explain why (in my first book review ever!) here:

Took a hike today on Deception Creek trail. River views were incredible. Pretty hot outside, even at this elevation and despite the trail being entirely in the shade. At one point I jumped in, boots and all, and kept hiking in my wet clothes. Only saw 5 people in 6 hours.
The outcomes of the @JHUCCSS work reflect the collective perspectives of so many research partners. Les' contribution was to find the common core and set our course forward. He wanted this @VoluntasJournal article to inspire action. Take these tools and use & improve them! [1/2]
#OnlineFirst Dr. Lester M. Salamon sadly died in 2021 before he could revise his article on the history and scope of the decades-long effort to institutionalize the collection and reporting of data on the third sector into national statistical systems. [1|4]
Adams reps among those attending rally in support of #SpecialEducation today. SPS leaders need to hear #NeedsNotNumbers message. Staffing ratios are pre-covid and don't take increased needs into account. Students need stability following a year of disruption. Of interest @KUOW?
Attempting to capture what I think Lester Salamon would have said about the international work that involved so many of us. @JHUCCSS nonprofitquarterly.org/salam… via @npquarterly
I worked for Lester for 12+ years before @ISTRorg. He could be a challenging boss, but his unwillingness to compromise on accuracy & quality are what made the work valuable and the projects successful. I was proud of my part in it and the trust he eventually put in me.
On the passing of our tireless leader. More here: ccss.jhu.edu/statement-regar…

112. Yikes. Yikes. Yikes. Please start preparing, especially if you're traveling. Make sure your vehicle is in good working order and, with a lot of people traveling, that you'll be prepared for possible delays in very hot weather.
Please check out the @NWSSpokane's blog post about the upcoming heat. Please start taking precautions, planning ahead, and make sure if you are traveling to take plenty of water with you.

A tragic day in the Yangon township of Hlaing Thayar, summed up by this photo from @MizzimaNews. At least 14, but perhaps as many as 30 protestors have been killed by the authorities. There have been other fatalities across town, making this the bloodiest day since the coup began

A security guard tailed me on my walk home tonight. He demanded if I lived there because “you look suspicious.” I showed my keys & buzzed myself into my building. He left, no apology. This is the reality of black girls: One day you’re called an icon, the next day, a threat.
Wow, a fantastic @washingtonpost piece by @nnekamcguire . We live in a contradictory society that can celebrate a black girl poet & also pepper spray a 9 yr old. Yes see me, but also see all other black girls who've been made invisible. I can not, will not, rise alone.
