Okay, while I'm shamelessly plugging my research... Here's our floodplain woodlands chapter from last year (and here's a lil drawing I did for the chapter): researchgate.net/publication…

In incredible news, our preprint (ecoevorxiv.org/repository/vi…) has now been downloaded >7500 times from EcoEvoRXiv in the last week! We show that ecological results are very sensitive to who analyses the data and how they do it.
So excited to release this work into the wild. Thank you so much to the 300 odd researchers who contributed to the project. And especially to my joint-first-authors @TimParker88, @Elliot_Gould_ for putting in a terrifying number of hours on this

Plant hosts can play favourites with AM fungi depending on how much soil goodies the fungi give to the plant! My mind is blown @frewecologist. I never knew plants were such petty landlords! #ESAus23

PSA for fellow presenters: Double-check your presentation time because I just noticed that my talk has been moved from Thursday to Monday! That's a significant reduction in presentation prep time for a tired parent. #ESAus2023

We got an electric piano for Christmas. What songs are good and not boring for beginners? I started trying to learn some Taylor Swift folklore bangers but they are crazy complicated.

No one warns you that having more than one child means you have to do some insane mental gymnastics trying to make sure they have equivalent present joy on Christmas day.

See? Here is proof that floodplains are the most beautiful and river red gums are the most magical and seeing and hearing a flooded red gum swamp is the best feeling ever. Yorta Yorta Country.

A velvety carpet of Nardoo, everyone's fave aquatic fern. The floodplains and wetlands on Yorta Yorta Country are so amazing right now. But the MOZZIES!

Drove up into Dja Dja Wurrung Country to visit my dad yesterday, and the floodplains and wetlands and woodlands and trees and wildflowers we saw on the drive were *chef's kiss*. This is why I love floodplains: water goes where it always has and reveals the past.

Going to bed with blisters on my hands from my first ever gymnastics class. Add this to the list of things I've tried as an adult that I desperately wanted to do as a kid. Aiming to nail the handstand on beam by Christmas.

My bad, I forgot to mention that no one at #ESASCBO2022 is allowed to have any fun this week. It's okay if you accidentally had fun today, but just from now on please be miserable in our absence.

Wren's HbA1C has come down dramatically since we started looping. She now has the average blood sugar of someone without diabetes. And we all sleep better and Wren isn't dealing with roller coaster blood sugars that make her feel rubbish. It was hard work to set up, but it works!
It's up and running! Just using the virtual pump until I get the hang of it. The learning curve is steep but I'm excited to see how it goes irl on school holidays. If you ever want to try, now you have a person to help you get it set up (me!).

Can we start a thread of ethical but rad Xmas present ideas for kids. I'll start. I try to think of stuff that's still very cool even when it's secondhand and go search fb marketplace for that thing. eg Guitar/musical instruments Roller skates Binoculars Headphones

Such a fantastic piece of work by a bunch of cool peeps. An example of a simple framework for making sense of and designing effective monitoring programs! Nice one @LibbyRumpff @chsjones @freyamthomas @HannahSFraser @Elliot_Gould_ and co. esajournals.onlinelibrary.wi…
