ALT Historically, the deep, tree-lined gorge known as Church Ravine served as the physical and political boundary between two of Yorkshire’s historic counties. The Town/Fishing Village was situated south of the ravine, firmly inside the East Riding of Yorkshire. whilst St Oswald's Church and the Vicarage sat on the northern clifftop, positioned inside the North Riding of Yorkshire Image: Paul Farmer CC BY-SA 2.0
