DPW is seeking snow plow contractors to provide snow plowing services for the upcoming winter. We are looking for contractors that may have plow trucks, bobcats, skid steers, and loaders all available for plowing our streets and municipal parking lots. Call 781-665-0142!
Attention Residents! Our collection truck is currently having mechanical issues so the DPW will be running late on today's curbside yard waste collection. If your yard waste is not picked up by the end of day, it will be picked up tomorrow.
Attention Residents! This Saturday 6/8 at Melrose HS from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the Melrose HS Band is hosting a Bottle & Can Drive!
Delivery of new solid waste and recycling carts has begun! Please keep an eye out for your new carts, which will be delivered to your property between June 3rdand June 14th. You do not need to be home to accept delivery.
Attention Melrose Residents: Today’s trash collection was delayed due to a Republic Services truck issue. If your trash was not collected today as normal, please leave it out on the curb for Republic Services to collect tomorrow.
Thank you for your understanding and patience.
Attention Residents! This Saturday (5/18) from 8 AM - 12 PM, Melrose DPW will be hosting a Paper Shredding event at the City Yard. Cash or check only.
Please see below for more details!
Attention Residents! Our garbage hauler Republic had trucking issues yesterday resulting in them not being able to finish Melrose's routes. That being said, Republic has just finished Wednesdays routes and are now starting Thursdays routes so they'll be late collecting.
Attention Residents!
This Saturday (4/20) from 8 AM – 12 PM, Melrose DPW will be hosting a Motor Oil/Gas/Antifreeze collection event at the City Yard. Cash or Check only.
Call 781-665-0142 or email [email protected] with any questions or concerns.
As an update, if you've noticed that Republic trucks are only picking up trash and recycling on one side of the street and not yours, there's a reason behind that due to new safety measures. So, chances are they're just coming back to pick up your side of the street.

The City Yard will be open tomorrow Wednesday, December 20th for drop-off of yard waste and small brush/debris that resulted from Monday's storm.
The city yard will also be open on Thursday December 21 from 7:30 AM - 2:30 PM, as normal.
Please see info below on how to report power outages/downed powerlines & downed trees/limbs on public ways.
