Congrats, you’ve been promoted from “person with a point” to “background noise.” So when you ARE speaking up and it doesn’t land... is it really your fault nobody heard you? Or did you just make the mistake of saying exactly what you mean in plain language, which apparently nobody speaks anymore? It’s so weird how one minute you feel seen and heard, and the next you’re basically a houseplant. Nice to have around. Not expected to talk. And everyone loves to preach “set healthy boundaries” and “maintain your boundaries”... right up until you actually have some. Then suddenly you’re supposed to bend, twist, compromise, and communicate the way THEY think you should. Classic Catch-22. Nobody stops to consider how the balance between boundaries and compromise always ends up biting you in the a$$. Hold the line and you’re difficult. Bend and you’re a doormat.
