We are incredibly grateful for the bravery and diligence of our co-workers and first responders today at Mercy Fort Smith. Following reports of an armed suspect in the building, our team acted swiftly and followed established protocol for an armed intruder. (1/3)
This ultimately helped law enforcement apprehend the suspect by 2 p.m. Thankfully, no injuries were reported during this incident. (2/3)
ALERT: If you're heading to our hospital, please remain in your vehicle and away from the building. We have reports of a possible armed person inside, so please stay away from the building for your safety. We are in lockdown (including ER) and emergency personnel are sweeping.
After receiving the all-clear by law enforcement command center around 1:20 p.m., we began resuming normal operations. Soon after, the suspect was located, and he was immediately apprehended and is now in police custody.
