Genuine freedom?
Why does everyone think we have this magical will.
Our wills are dependent.
Its the craziest thing.
There is no such thing as a free will apart from God.
There is only one truly free and genuine will and thats clearly and biblically God.
Everything else is absolutely dependent.
We have a dependent will.
This is why they keep going back and forth with words that continuously need to be rehashed because they aren't biblical.
We uses phrases like "he is not the author of sin" that creates more confusion. Use a different word!!!! Its not that hard. I know what you mean.
There is no such thing as a "libertarian" free will.
We are clearly dependent. We make no sense.
Our wills dont exist in a vacuum and no one can argue that without appealing to some magical scenario.
I just put the kids to bed. So gives me a little more time lol. @RossBainesArt I need to buy a piece of artwork from you now lol. We both like MMA so it will be related to that. I'll check out your website. I'm not joking either, just to make sense in the old wallet lol. But back to business.
Your question: "who decreed those desires?"
A: God decreed all the events and situations and upholds all things for the supremacy of Christ in all things. The sinful desires in those decreed events are man's.
Replying to @MercyInMotion2 @ManassehRJones
Ok, under theistic determinism who decreed those desires?
This is very important because to (rightly) say God temps no one, but simultaneously decrees the very desires that lead to temptation, needs some serious explanation. But not from quantum mechanics. Just good old logic and reason would be preferable.
Elon is none of those things, not before God. Romans 3:9-18
He is a product of the sheer grace of God, but not in a way he believes it will go.
What he should be asking himself, is whether he is a vessel of mercy or a vessel of wrath? Romans 9.
@elonmusk
With all respect, what will it profit a man if he gains the world, yet loses his soul? Mark 8:36
You may think you are doing things that can't possibly put you in the red before a God you may or may not believe exists.
This world isn't what you think it is and your place in it isn't what you think it is.
Turn to Christ. Repent, and believe. Life is but a vapor. John 3:16-21
Because when you shift the focus from theological debates to actual real world issues that are happening today people go silent.
When you talk about what God wouldn't do or would do in hypothetical biblical situations people love to talk. We love hearing our voices about how we super care about God's character.
Who cares.
Tell me why He currently doesn't stop the most horrific act(s) from taking place? Some of the most vulnerable have endured the most evil abuse and God did not stop it.
That's happening today. The good and all powerful God did not stop it.
Crickets or clicks? which is it? @DineshDSouza @realJennaEllis
We all have experienced some sort of pain, horrific situation. We all ask the same question. Where was God?
When we open our mouth, we say, "well, I will just put my arms around the person and appeal to some sort of hallmark answer and try to stand on some righteous speech about pain and suffering and God knows what we are dealing with?"
But the question is simple. Why doesn't He?
Ah yes, the hypothetical situation about God sending babies to hell.
We love to argue about theology.
God currently has the power to stop any evil act. Currently babies are either be torn to shreds or other horrific evil acts committed against them.
Where is the all powerful God? He can intervene. the Bible is littered with real accounts where He does.
Whe don't have to go on debates about hypothetical theological realities.
Please answer why He doesn't?
Don't tell me about He doesn't want to mess with our precious freedom of choice.
Don't tell me it's a mystery.
And please don't compare it to the most horrific display of evil at Golgotha.
Because all those answers are a cop out.
Real world, real evil problem. @DineshDSouza
@realJennaEllis why doesn't God stop the evil currently happening to babies not just in the womb, but more specifically those children that have to endure years, decades of abuse?
Why doesn't He intervene?
Because that is beyond comprehension.
This is my main issue with us.
I have children. I'd give everything for them. I'd die for my children.
God can intervene anytime he wants in this world. Anytime.
Currently as we speak something horrific is being done to a baby or child.
Why doesn't God intervene?
You agree He can. You agree He has in the past.
But He doesn't even intervene when the most horrific thing is taking places repeatedly for even years in some cases.
I would love someone to answer that specific question that happens all over the world all the time.
Please tell me why a God who can intervene but doesn't?
I could give a crap about what people think about Calvinism.
When I was younger I wanted real answers to real life problems.
The implications for a powerful God are staggering.
People keep saying God wouldn't do this or how could he do that?
But yet today as we type. He allows the most horrific things to the most vulnerable humans.
I get crickets or some dumb ass answer involving not wanting to mess with our divine free will or some crap about it being a mystery. But yet we do know when to object when its some hypothetical involving a baby.
As an aside, im not aiming venom at any particular person. Its just we barely think through the implications of a powerful God who can intervene but doesn't.
Replying to @JamesDitto12
- I don’t raise animals.
- I don’t get any glory from the death of animals.
- I’m not condemning God but rather the maligned God of Calvinism.
- No.
What does any of this have to do with the false claim that God sends babies to hell?
Which word was that? This one?
"Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand, things too wonderful for me, which I did not know"
Job 42:3
Replying to @Biblethumpingwi
I believe Job would like a word, because he vehemently challenged God’s justice. Not God’s power but how He used his power. And God declared Job “righteous” despite his “O man” conduct.
We think we are the good that we do.
C.S. Lewis once said, we'd rather play in the mud than have a holiday at sea.
It's the same with giving God binary powers when beyond quantum abilities are at play.
We are far too easily pleased.
Maybe the issue isn't merely misunderstanding depravity but our failure to grasp how God's power works in all it complexity and majesty with the good we see ourselves doing.
We think we are the good that we do.

"We create stories and narratives to make ourselves the hero of the story. We set the standard of morality so we can be seen as good or not that bad. You must have villains, though. We have our standard list of villains, at least on this side of the world: Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini. And if you have villains, you must have the good guys. But who are they? It’s us, of course. Go watch a movie, read a book, turn on the T.V., and get on the internet. We are everywhere, and we are telling the story from our perspective. We are the first-person storyteller. And if we ever get to the point where we find ourselves the bad guy, we do what Ben and Teddy did. We find redemption in our actions, or we simply change the narrative. We find the “glory” in the goodness we do." (Ch.3: Us, Mercy in Motion)

LIGHT
My God
My Jesus
Creator of us All
Your good unseen
Woven within our seams
Your malleable light
running
Like a river through our night.
Calm...
Let it build
Let it crescendo
Unto a praise
A Hymn with your name
Though now
Through a mirror dimly
We see in part
Until that glorious scene
When we depart
We will know
Of all thy works
Goodness
We will see, finally
Was yours
And yours alone

Book overview:
We are the first-person storytellers. Life happens through our eyes. But what if there's something missing? What if there's more to the reality we live in? What if there is a God and He doesn't exist in the whims of our imagination? Moreover, what if this God is more personal than you or I could ever imagine? This book will take us on a journey to unmask the reality we live in and bring us, God willing, to a place of utter worship of the One true God.
Know Who is behind "your" good.
Genesis 20:6
Don't miss the fine print.

Excerpt from Mercy in Motion:
When you ask what the meaning of life is, you find out what life is in the first place.
Jesus is this life.
(John 1:1-5, John 14:6)
And what is the opposite of life?
Death.
Our sin has brought about death as its payment. Jesus has conquered death through what He did on the cross.
(Romans 6:23)
He is making all things new.
For sinful humanity and for creation itself, this is an astounding truth. A stunning revelation.
For vessels of mercy, we get to be a part of life in its purest form — in a relationship with the triune God.
The Son of God took on flesh, suffered, and died on a cross to satisfy the wrath of God for those who would call on His name. He was buried and rose on the third day to conquer death itself on our behalf.
(1 Corinthians 15:3-4)
We get to reflect that mercy that He bought on the cross. We get to reflect that today.
Yes, the world is a witness to this truth. Yes, angels and demons are a witness to this. Satan himself is a witness to this truth.
But what is more glorious is that the triune God reflects this grace in motion. It’s what sustains the glory in us. God does that. We go along for the ride as vessels of mercy. We get rewards for what He alone sustains.
Imagine that.
We didn’t want Him. We rail against Him. We malign Him.
And still, Christ suffered greatly and died so that we can be a product of this mercy and enjoy Him forever.
That’s where we come in, and that’s what we get — provided you are in Christ.
What is the meaning of life?
Run to Him.
There are many things you can say and think to run away. But you’d be running away from the most beautiful and precious gift undeserving humanity can get… mercy.
Run to Him. Fight the faulty objections and run to Him.
We are here a moment and gone the next. Run to Him.
His mercy is wonderful, and He is making all things new.
Run to Him, and you will be made new as well.
We are sinners in need of a Savior. Christ is that provision.
Run to Him.
Oh, that He would allow us to repent and turn from our sins into His wondrous arms!
Run to Him!
This is the good news for us: God is the gospel. He is the mercy we need. Indeed, He is our everything.
Run to Him.
