It is important to identify and manage self-harm in adolescence, as it is associated with a 2-fold increased risk of suicidal thoughts in adulthood, 6 years later

So proud to be a trustee of @JamesPlaceUK -an amazing charity working tirelessly to support men who are suicidal👇
Six years ago today we opened the first James' Place in Liverpool. Thank you to everyone in Liverpool who has supported us. We're so proud that we've now helped over 2,300 men in suicidal crisis across our three centres - and Liverpool was where it all began!

Healing From Trauma
This week I have run wellbeing sessions to help empower us to recover from the past few years.
I have relayed how the brain can become hyper vigilant and we need tools to calm and soothe.
As we heal and endure the cost of living crisis we need to unpack the grief and stress and trauma we may have experienced. Just a reminder to those reading please go gently with yourself flood your days with self compassion surround yourself with nurturing people who have your back- sending love to all souls struggling #mentalhealth

Six months ago I was in a psychiatric ward after attempting to take my own life.
This #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek I’m celebrating my first full month with no suicidal plan or thoughts, for the first time since I was 12!!!
To anyone who’s struggling, I promise it can get better.

Today put on your rose tinted spectacles and record three things you are grateful for. Just this simple practice is scientifically proven to improve your wellbeing.Gratitude is an antidote to negative emotions, a neutraliser of envy, hostility, worry, and irritation. It is savouring; it is not taking things for granted; it is present-oriented.
The more you practice gratitude, the more you strengthen the brain’s neural circuits for gratitude, making it easier to focus on feelings of gratitude. When you start to focus on the things you already have in your life that are good, your brain becomes better at discovering similar things. For example, if you consciously notice how beautiful the stars in the night sky are, you will be more likely to notice the stars and feel gratitude again. Even though the stars are always there, the gratitude focus is like a signal to your brain to notice them.
So start gratitude journaling and observe your wellbeing build #mentalhealth
