Ata mārie!
Plenty of clear skies this morning 🌤️, although a little bit of early morning fog in the valleys. The satellite image below shows some cloud in the west, associated with a few showers. 🌦️
The main weather feature for today is waiting in the wings just to the southwest of the country (seen as the white and red cloud band in the satellite image just off Stewart Island). This is a cold front, and it will make an appearance on the lower South Island through the second half of the day. Expect strong northwesterly winds just head of it, rain along the front, and cooler southwesterlies behind. 💨→ 🌧️→🥶

Can you match the cloud with what you can see in the satellite imagery? 🛰️☁️
We love it when you send us your cool cloud and weather photos. 📸 This one was taken over the long weekend at Waitārere Beach, and we thought it'd be cool to go back and try to spot it in our satellite feeds too!

🌡️ Did you know? That yesterday Dunedin saw its warmest night in October in 54 years. Smashing previous records out of the park! 📈🔥
However, those warm and cosy temperatures were short lived. The passage of a front has plummeted Dunedin temperatures from a high of 26°C yesterday to a forecasted high of just 13°C today. And an overnight minimum temperature of 6°C. ❄️
What a temperature rollercoaster! 🎢🌦️
