Over the past 3-4 weeks, I focused on creating a live demo for the Meta Connect Developer Keynote. When the team asked me to do this with AI, my first reaction was, “How am I going to pull this off on stage?” 😅 Then I got to work. I’ve been building so many games and prototypes that I had a pretty good idea of how to approach it. Well, I don’t want to spoil it, but here’s the full live demo showing how I built a Mini Golf game that’s ready for Meta VR Glasses! It uses v207, hand tracking, and gaze interactions, and I relied quite a bit on Meta XR Simulator for rapid iteration. 👇

A framework is only as good as what people build with it. Immersive Web SDK 1.0 is out, and this is what our community has made with it so far. Run npm create @iwsdk@latest, or point your AI agent at iwsdk.dev/skill.md and imagine away.

10 DAYS until Meta Connect 2026! 🔥 I still remember placing a virtual object in the real world with ARKit and walking around it, amazed that it stayed right there. That alone was enough to get me into loving VR/MR! Nearly a decade later, I’m helping prepare developer content for Connect, and man, I still get that same excitement when I make something work. I just have a much longer list of things I want to build now 😅 What was YOUR “ok, I need to learn how to build this” moment with XR?

📣 Continuing the Meta Connect 2026 countdown… 21 DAYS TO GO! 🔥 Adding to my excitement, we just released a new Muse Spark model and a new real-time audio perception model, and I’ve personally been testing Muse Code with our VR developer tools! There’s so much happening right now, and I honestly can’t wait for everyone to see it all come together. What are you most excited about this year? 👀

The future of XR isn’t in a controller, it’s in your hands 👋✨ We’ve made hands-first experiences faster, smoother, and more intuitive than ever. Check out our two newest capabilities: ✅ XR Hand Capture: Record real hand poses on-device and turn them into reusable gesture assets. ✅ Hands Simulation: Test pinches, grabs, and custom gestures directly inside the Unity Editor; no headset needed. Ready to build for hands? 🔗 Get the full technical breakdown: on.unity.com/XRHands_Blog

Here’s a fun one: the AI developer tools we shipped for Quest a few weeks ago also work on Portal devices! So if you have one, it’s now also a dev kit. Describe an app, deploy over USB. Here’s what I built for my Portal, a centralized home hub where I can see and control our smart devices.

💡What if I could fully turn an existing full-scale VR/MR game into a mini tabletop game? Honestly, this just took 6-7 prompts + a few android permission changes to enable hand tracking. The results 🤯 and this used to take me a while because I had to manually resize and adjust everything before I could even make it work. This is exactly why Unity AI and their exposed MCP tools are such a big deal for developers.

🚨 Unity AI is finally opening up, and this is a big one for Unity developers 🚀 You now get access to an in-project agentic assistant, AI Gateway, MCP server support, and deeper editor context so AI tools can understand your scene, assets, packages, hierarchy, settings, and target platforms. This is the kind of workflow I’ve been waiting for, AI that actually understands your Unity project and helps you build faster.

🚀 This is something I recently learned about the 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗮 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗗𝗞, and if you're aiming for 𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀-𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺, there is a way to do it. Basically, the Interaction SDK Essentials package provides the core implementations of all the interaction models, along with the necessary shaders, materials, and prefabs. The package can optionally integrate with Unity XR if the dependency is available. 💡Use this package paired with Unity XR Hands if cross-platform development is important to your project.
