We should be aware that the new advances in human genetics and phenotypic inference could be deliberately or covertly misused / misinterpreted to support eugenic, racist, sexist or classist arguments and ideas... see my contribution to @Metode_eng 👇👇👇
Eugenics and «social cleansing» were used as an excuse to sterilise hundreds of thousands of people, with the misguided aim of ridding society of «defective» genes. The power of ignorance!

An interesting and readable review of the application of modelling/numerical methods to history. It is odd that such approaches come in for so much criticism, when quantitative economics (based on essentially the same idea) gets an easy ride 🤔
Scientists such as Nicolas Rashevsky have supported the existence of universal principles that underpin human cultural evolution through mathematical models. In this article, @SDuranNebreda i @svalver review the different contributions made to this theory.

📌 A Piece of Neuroscience
“It is a big – and very common – mistake to relate an encephalic region and a neurotransmitter with a complex function, since the nervous system does not work with isolated modules”
Associating feelings of pleasure with dopamine is a common mistake. The process involves many other elements. Humans permanently seek pleasure and the continuous generation of expectations, surprise, and desire. | 'Infinite pleasure' by @xurxomar
