After the press conference, the case dies.

This is why facilitating these deals through the state house is scary..
EXPLAIN DANGOTE DEAL: AR Member of Parliament, George Kambala, wants to know what Namibia stands to gain from the US$2,4 billion Dangote Tank Farm and Regional Pipeline Project. Kambala is questioning why government is not taking an equity stake in the privately driven investment and what financial benefits Namibia will receive through taxes, fees, royalties and lease income. He is also demanding disclosure of agreements, concessions and guarantees granted to Dangote Industries, as well as commitments on local employment, procurement, and skills transfer. He further wants to know how the proposed facility will affect Namcor’s existing N$5,6 billion national oil storage facility, which is not yet operating at full capacity. “If the State will not hold equity, what exactly will Namibia earn from this project?” Kambala asks. He asked the questions to Minister in the Presidency, Charles Mubita, in parliament on Wednesday. UPDATE: Sonja Smith Photo: contributed

Put political and personal differences aside for a moment and give credit where it is due. @Shipululo deserves recognition for his outstanding performance in Parliament. Regardless of where you stand politically it is only fair to acknowledge this great son of the 🇳🇦 soil.
Affirmative Repositioning (AR) leader Professor Job Amupanda has rejected the proposed allocation of N$200 million to the Ministry of Defence in its current form, proposing that the money be placed under the Finance Ministry’s contingency fund until concerns about its intended use are addressed. Contributing to the Mid-Year Budget Review debate in the National Assembly, Amupanda stated that MPs had not been given sufficient information about outstanding government utility bills or the purpose of the proposed allocation. He also questioned fuel deliveries to a military facility, saying fuel transported from Botswana was not being subjected to the required taxes and levies. He questioned transactions involving August 26 and private companies and called for accountability over government procurement. Prof. Amupanda said the Mid-Year Budget Review should promote fiscal transparency, public accountability and real-time management of public finances, rather than simply approve additional spending without proper scrutiny. He also highlighted the need for the budget to address economic shocks, including the impact of foot-and-mouth disease and external developments on Namibia’s economy. Kubayi debating Jacinta ? Not a chance. She knows that Jacinta doesn't need a political script, a media team or rehearsed talking points. Just give her a microphone and a few minutes. The rest will take care of itself. 🔥

If a murderer kills again while out on bail, the family must sue whoever gave him bail.
Police in the Hardap Region are searching for a Mariental man who is accused of allegedly killing yet another woman while out on bail for the brutal murder of his former girlfriend. The lifeless body of Valery Rooi was discovered at a plot outside Mariental in the early hours of Saturday morning. A relative of Rooi told NBC News that she was found with multiple stab wounds. The suspect, Jackson Arikumbi, who was reportedly in a relationship with Rooi, is currently on the run. He was previously granted bail in connection with the murder of his former girlfriend, Chriszelda Kawarie. Police spokesperson Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwanbi confirmed that a warrant of arrest has been issued for Arikumbi. In 2024, police said Arikumbi had confessed to the murder of Kawarie, whose brutal killing sent shockwaves through the southern town. Kawarie's mutilated body was discovered with her breasts cut off, parts of her facial skin removed, and other body parts mutilated. At the time, relatives said she could only be identified by her feet, as her face had been skinned. Kawarie and the accused share a young son. In 2024, NBC News sat down with Kawarie's mother, Christina Kawarie, who was still struggling to come to terms with the brutal killing of her 21-year-old daughter. "I can't believe he slaughtered my daughter like that. He cut her up in pieces. That's my baby daughter," she said, fighting back tears. Kawarie's body was discovered after Arikumbi handed himself over to the police and allegedly confessed to the murder. At the time, members of the Mariental community took to the streets in protest over the decision to grant Arikumbi bail. In what the family say is a particularly heartbreaking development, a relative of Rooi told NBC News that she was allegedly killed in the very same room where Kawarie was murdered in 2024. Anyone with information that could lead to Arikumbi's arrest is urged to contact Deputy Commissioner Kotungondo on 081 208 4060 or Senior Inspector Boois on 081 259 8664. So the South African Human Rights commission represents foreigners and not South Africans?🤔
The Movement has been made aware via a very liable source that there is a matter that is going to be before the Durban High Court, which the applicants are the South African Human Rights Commission on behalf of “asylum seekers/refugees” where the commission has asked for this matter to be handled discreetly and must not be made public. We have written to the Judge President as the movement to request that this matter be made public because if the results are going to impact us as the public then the request by the SA Human Rights Commission is a very sneaky one because we deserve to know. We will await for the response and give feedback.

I hope Gazza is doing well wherever he is. It can't be easy having everyone talk about you, throw accusations your way, connect dots, and dig up things that happened years ago. Sometimes, people forget that there's a human being behind all the noise and accusations. 🫡

For three decades, you have promised to build a South Africa that is “better for all”. But somewhere along the way, the meaning of for all got lost and the struggle became increasingly about you, your comrades and the privileges that come with power. You became arrogant, disconnected and out of touch with the very people you were elected to serve. The blue lights, bodyguards, government positions and VIP treatment got into your heads. You gradually forgot that public office is a responsibility, not a reward, and that leadership is about serving people, not looking down on them. You prioritised everyone else (investors, foreigners and international interests) while neglecting the ordinary South Africans who entrusted you with their votes. We watched your fellow comrades boast about having the option of taking a shower at a hotel when there was no water at home, while ordinary citizens were expected to endure hours, sometimes days, without water flowing from their taps. You failed to maintain the country’s infrastructure and allowed criminal mafias to establish themselves in spaces where the state should be firmly in control. You ratified international treaties and agreements without adequately considering their long-term implications for our economic sovereignty and development. You turned government departments, municipalities and SOEs into territories of political patronage rather than institutions of public service. I could write until tomorrow about the opportunities wasted, the institutions weakened and the promises betrayed. But perhaps the greatest tragedy is that you reduced the meaning of democracy to the act of voting every five years. You forgot that democracy does not end at the ballot box. It lives in the quality of water coming out of people’s taps, the safety of their neighbourhoods, the jobs they can access, the dignity with which they are treated and the confidence they have in their government. South Africa was never meant to be a country where a select few enjoy the fruits of democracy while millions are left to survive on promises. I hope that one day you will pause, look beyond your positions and privileges, and honestly reflect on what you have done with the trust of the people. History will not judge you by how long you stayed in power, how many blue lights escorted you or how many positions your comrades occupied. It will judge you by whether the lives of ordinary South Africans became better because you were entrusted with leadership. There is still a country worth fighting for, a democracy worth protecting and a future worth building. But that future must put ordinary South Africans back at the centre of everything. The people were never meant to serve those in power. Those in power were elected to serve the people.

Redi Tlhabi takes Western liberal ideology & applies it to SA without context. People think she's smart, yet she can't contextualise political ideologies and social issues across different countries; she tends to impose developed-world Western ideologies on a poor country

I agree. I also prefer Halaal food. The way meat is prepared is of a superior standard. Been eating it for decades and I will keep deliberately choosing Halaal. No propaganda formed against us shall prosper... Thank you for your attention to this matter! 😜
