Our @miamiaihub community has 8,000 members now. It doubled in the last year.
If I had to start over from zero tomorrow, here's what I'd do, and what I'd skip.
I'd start with a small group.
Not an audience. A handful of people who actually want to learn and build with AI.
I'd pick one format and keep it consistent.
Same kind of session, same rhythm. People come back to things they can count on.
I'd let people contribute early.
The moment someone shares what they built or teaches the room something, it stops being my community and starts being ours.
And I'd skip what eats the first few weeks for most people.
The name. The logo. The website.
Nobody joins because of a logo.
The part most people miss is the second visit.
Getting someone to show up once is easy. Getting them to come back is the real test.
From what I've seen, people return for three reasons.
Someone they want to keep talking to.
Something useful they walked away with.
A chance to share their own work.
Then make the next step easy. If people have to hunt for when the next one is, most won't.
A big number looks good on a slide.
A room full of people who come back is what actually grows.

What you get:
- $300K plus 12 months of coaching, starting April 2027

Who qualifies:
- Teams with working AI tech already used or piloted with real people
- AI has to be core to the product, not a chatbot wrapper
- Nonprofits, individuals and for-profits can all apply
The catch:
- Only 7 projects get funded
- The project needs a charitable purpose, and for-profits face strict spending rules
