Happy Feast of Christ the King
It is a reliquary of the True Cross. It's called "The Witness," and, thanks to Caligula, it memorializes the spot where the first pope, St. Peter, was crucified upside-down.
From Rome, Michael Matt celebrates the Feast of Christ the King by reading the last verse of the Christus Vincit verse on Pharoh's obelisk, which in an ironic twist of historical fate, was destined to become the enduring symbol of Christianity's Triumph over paganism.
Christless Chaos at the Colosseum, Protesters Clash With Police
Just down the street from where Bishop Schneider's Latin Mass was celebrated at St. Mary Major, this was the scene. . . the very same day the Vatican police blocked traditional Catholics from entering St. Peter's Basilica to pray.
Could the Synodal Church possibly be any more tone deaf! Formerly Catholic Europe is in Christless chaos and, yet the Vatican is trying to cancel the only solution that could save Europe -- the restoration of Christianity.
Back in 1920, Hilaire Belloc famously wrote that "the Faith is Europe, and Europe is the Faith." His point was that European civilization was built by the Catholic Church out of the ruins of the Roman Empire. Trouble is, the infamous "Spirit of Vatican II" uncrowned Christ the King -- making this chaos inevitable. Why? Because as Hillaire Belloc also said -- it's either Christ, or chaos!
Welcome to the chaos of the New Post-Christian World Order.
Bishop Athanasius Schneider spoke with me just hours after the Summorum Pontificum pilgrimage controversy in Rome. Why were traditional Catholic pilgrims denied entry to St. Peter’s Basilica?
And what does this say about the Vatican’s calls for inclusion, unity, and pastoral solicitude?
In this interview, Schneider addresses the pilgrimage controversy, the unrest engulfing the world, the future of traditional Catholicism, and why faithful Catholics must never lose hope in Holy Mother Church.

After traditional Catholic pilgrims were denied entry to St. Peter’s Basilica at the conclusion of their Rome pilgrimage, Bishop Athanasius Schneider offered them something the world cannot give: a powerful message of consolation, courage, and hope.
Celebrating the Traditional Latin Mass at the Basilica of St. Mary Major on October 24, Bishop Schneider defended the faithful who feel marginalized for their love of the Church’s ancient liturgy, and gave a moving plea to Church authorities: restore the liturgical peace that traditional Catholics have long sought.
Invoking Our Lady, Queen of Peace, and recalling the words of both Pope Benedict XVI and even Pope Francis, Bishop Schneider reminded the pilgrims why they must not surrender either their convictions or their love for Holy Mother Church.

What happened to the traditional Catholic pilgrimage today? Who is responsible for causing this scandal? And what about the riots in Rome—is this a chastisement of sorts? The interview is coming soon! God bless and protect Bishop Schneider.
Bishop Schneider's Mass at the main altar of the papal basilica of St. Mary Major, at the close of the Summorum Pontificum pilgrimage.
Please don’t feed the Vatican spin machine. What happened today in Rome was simply outrageous. Respected Vatican journalist, Michael Haynes, sets the record straight:
Some theories are circulating online about the Latin Mass pilgrimage, spread by people unconnected with it.
Some clarity below —
Organisers asked for permission for the Vatican Mass, via a letter delivered directly to Pope Leo by Bishop Schneider in December. The pilgrimage is in its 15th year, and is always held on the same date.
Organisers received no answer about the Mass until August, when the Secretariat of State replied to say they could not have Mass in the Vatican. Pilgrimage organisers then announced publicly that no Mass would take place in the Vatican.
Instead, pilgrims would process into the Vatican at 1pm on the Saturday, and then go to St Mary Major for a 3pm Mass. Permission for the procession into the Vatican was granted in April 2026.
Weeks after this, in September, St Peter’s announced an event taking place at 3:30pm at the Altar of the Chair (used by the pilgrimage last year for Mass).
Then this week – just yesterday I am told – organisers received another letter from the Secretariat of State informing them they could not even process into the Vatican as planned, and as permitted since April. Basilica events are not the prerogative of the Secretariat but of the Archpriest & the Fabric of St Peter’s: hence why the Secretariat of State’s involvement is so strange.
On Saturday, pilgrims walked through the streets up to the obelisk in St. Peter’s Square – accompanied by Italian state police – where they were stopped by the Vatican as this was the limit of the Italian police’s jurisdiction.
Then they were informed that their usage of St Mary Major’s had changed: they could only be inside for an hour.
Thus meaning that the planned and authorised pontifical solemn Mass would have to be a low Mass.
Also St Mary Major’s informed pilgrimage that no official photos could be taken

They were denied entry. They processed anyway. Faithful Catholics whose only “fault” is that they remain grateful to Pope Benedict for Summorum Pontificum, were denied entry into St. Peter’s Basilica, where they hoped to conclude their procession through the Pilgrim’s Door and recite the Credo over the bones of the first pope. They came anyway, and went as far as they could. God bless them and their loyal hearts.

Today in Rome, the Summorum Pontificum pilgrimage was barred from St Peter's – where, by the way, a Muslim was recently welcomed to pray, where the "Archbishop" of Canterbury Sarah Mullally recently prayed, where “idolaters of Pachamama entered triumphantly" in 2019, and where in 2025 a "pilgrimage" of LGBT activists was welcomed during the Jubilee carrying rainbow crosses and wearing gear that read “F…the Rules!” With this most unpastoral insult, the Vatican has put the lie to the entire Synodal charade. And in so doing, they also declared war on traditional Catholics, Pope Benedict’s Summorum Pontificum, and the Latin Mass of our fathers. May God help us all.
BREAKING NOW IN ROME
In a truly bizarre turn of events here in Rome, the Vatican has informed the Summorum Pontificum pilgrims that they will not be allowed to enter St. Peter’s Basilica tomorrow for their annual pilgrimage of gratitude to the late Pope Benedict XVI for restoring the Latin Mass to the altars of the Catholic Church.
You read that right! The pilgrims will be barred by Vatican police from entering St. Peter's.
In other words, after the July SSPX “disobedience” the Vatican decided to make a prophet out of the late Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre.
Please watch and share my report from Rome. If they want a war, let's give them one!

Barred from St. Peter's . . .
As I was saying here in Rome just last night -- the issue is not the Pilgrimage. The issue is NEVER the issue. The issue is always the REVOLUTION! youtu.be/YTLFzzvh47M?si=VuOf…

The Vatican will bar priests, religious and lay faithful participating in the annual Ad Petri Sedem pilgrimage from entering St. Peter’s Basilica on Saturday, Oct. 24, extending restrictions beyond the celebration of the traditional Latin Mass to the pilgrims’ customary gathering for prayer at the tomb of St. Peter.
