Figured it was good a time as any to check how my water filtration system is working for bacteria.
I wanted to wait till after my tank had been around for a while, sat for the summer heat/sun, all that jazz, before I tested it again.
No color change means no bacteria. So that's a win!
Been drinking the water the whole time and I ain't dead yet! 🦠🥤

What a day. I’m so tired. And dirty.
But the red mug made it to the orchard safely. Maybe some day I will have bees here too. Things got burned again.
Will do as a bed for my kitchen herbs near the house.
Walking home in the dark with the moon guiding me. Now some Halloween kitchen stuff…

Good Morning! Pop Pop and I both woke up at 2:30 🤣🤣🤣 me because I SLEPT LIKE A BABY IN MY BED!!! No coughing, no arm pain, no neck pain, no nothing… I can NOT even remember when I have slept like that in the bed. And the Pop Pop because he’s got an exciting day with an aggregate customer coming to visit and look and rocks n sand stuff…
After rolling around we decided to just get up and make coffee, we’ve been like too kids chatting and me reading to him the latest research paper I found on magnesium and it’s DISTURBING BODY SYSTEM EFFECTS when you are lacking in it!!!
FRIGHTENING that it is no telling how many people are on high blood pressure medication and heart medication a statin drug and a durn glyburide for Type II diabetes when IN FACT they are suffering from a case of hypomagnesemia. Look it up. I’ll post the paper link in comments so you can read for yourself. It’s from the National Library of Medicine…
Without the proper systemic absorption of magnesium you will basically have a metabolic meltdown eventually.
Causes of Hypomagnesemia: poor diet, diet limited in magnesium, inability to absorb dietary magnesium, smoking, drinking, or any number of combinations that might pull the magnesium from the body. A SERUM MAGNESIUM BLOOD TEST is all that is necessary to diagnose the patient 🤦🏼♀️. Did the Doctor recognize my unexplained increase in cholesterol or the unexplained elevated A1C/blood glucose OR the unexplained chest pain with complaints of chronic muscle fatigue and joint pain???? Nope he just gave me a HEART MEDICINE and tried to force a statin on me for the unexplainable blood lipids!!!! All symptoms of severely low long term lack of - magnesium.
Jesus and Baby Jesus….
Lack of magnesium also contributes to thickened arterial walls. Without magnesium your body can’t process nitric oxide so veins constrict. Cold hands and feet, poor PLURAL / PULMONARY exchange… magnesium. It was $29 for the bottle of Sucrosomial Mag…
God gave me a brain, and imo it’s a fairly medically oriented one; but I missed this damn dietary deficit in my own self care.
Two years I’ve followed the exact diet of pop pop that I designed for his blood needs 😑 without even a thought that I’ve not got his condition. He’s not to have excess magnesium, it’s anti platelet properties are a no no for him so his mag comes from his diet and magnesium rich foods are NOT IN HIS DAILY DIET. Pop Pop also eats a fortified cereal with added magnesium- I hate cereal and so I don’t even get that.
I have added up our routine food items and with his cereal he gets the daily dose or falls maybe a bit short (can explain the occasional leg cramps for)… but I’m at 1/4 to 1/2 the daily recommended intake of magnesium 😵💫😵💫😵💫 FOR TWO YEARS and when I started drinking my beer again I simply peed most of that >1/2 of the daily intake out!!!! THIS explains why I became faint, with a chest pain and sick when I sweated outside. What an idiot.
Now I’m not saying I don’t have a heart blockage we still have to address that tomorrow in the CT Angiogram but at the moment ALL MY SYMPTOMS ARE GONE.
I implore you all to read this paper, if you are not medically inclined read it slow. It is fairly understandable and if a word you don’t understand is there, then write the word down on paper and GOOGLE the definition. Get a medical friend to read you the paper. It will tell you what systems are affected by low magnesium. Look at the foods you eat and try to come up with how much magnesium you get daily, then deduct from that things that block or reduce your absorption of it. Or just go ask for a serum blood test to show if you have enough magnesium.
My elbows have stopped hurting for the first time in two years I am pain free and at 2:30 this morning I got out of the bed and didn’t walk like a retired NFL player.
Ok I’m going to jump off here because my X app isn’t showing my letter count 😵💫😂 and I’m not even sure all of this post will make it!!!!

Our orange and black Halloween mug is now on sale. I don’t think I’ll make a profit on it at this point and we only have 12 left, so I guess you could get it for next Halloween! 🎃

I stopped at a store recently in a small town with a large beautiful town green. Gazebo and everything. “Any good events coming up?” The clerk shrugged “There’s a trunk-or-treat I guess.”
I vomited on the counter and burned the town to the ground to put it out of its misery.
Michelle retweeted
I see trunk-or-treat is back in the discourse. Here is my annual, perennial, long suffering appeal. Join me in the fight.
"Trunk-or-treat" is one of the absolute worst tragedies to befall our culture. Do not, under any circumstances, bring your children to a "trunk-or-treat".
The practice, by which a group of parents organize to give out Halloween candy from the trunks of their vehicles in close proximity is sometimes regarded as a safer alternative to trick-or-treating, while other parents see it as an easier alternative to walking the neighborhood with their children. God forbid!
I cannot stress this enough: this is anathema to everything good about Halloween, America, Europe, Western civilization, and the entire history thereof. This, like so much of our modern culture, is a crushing force that seeks to steamroll everything into a safe, amorphous, corporate-approved blob that lacks any semblance of truth, beauty, history, identity, or tradition.
We know that Halloween was historically an old Celtic pagan fire festival to mark the start of winter (forgive the oversimplification, it's just Twitter). In Scotland, Ireland, Britain et. al., from where so many of our good old traditions hail, one could expect masked youngsters impersonating mischievous spirits to throw one's plough or cart into a nasty soggy ditch or lead your horse into a neighbor’s field. There was no appeasing these mischievous ghouls back then! It was chaos! Luckily today, since about 1920 when "guising" was introduced by Irish and Scottish immigrants in Massachusetts, we can bribe the goblins with some sweets and send them on their way.
And that's just it; it's a night when children have a sense of agency and control! We adults are at their joyfully mischievous mercy! If you do not pay the sweet tithe to the fairies and ghouls, your home may well fall victim to a nasty trick (toilet paper, anyone?). This is how it should be! Halloween should not be some staid and sanitized safe little polite jaunt about the park from car trunk to car trunk; it should be a night where children run rampant, threatening to egg houses and burn the village down to the very stones if their ravenous hunger is not appeased! That is good and just and right!
Please, for the sake of tradition, history, and beauty, send your children trick-or-treating from house to house. Have them knock on doors. Encourage mischief and risk and joy. They only get a brief window when this is possible. They only get one childhood.

“You are living in the ruins of a great civilization.”
In one aspect this is true: America hit “peak kid” in the 1980s and, with it, peak Halloween. Ryan M. Allen wrote about this recently. Very good article.
Decline is a choice, however. You can change the course.

You should not be afraid to seek out friends with whom you have lost touch.
This is doubly true for men. You would be surprised at how eager and willing people are to reconnect with you even after decades.

Limiting our business to products only manufactured in America has been the best decision, if only to force us to grow more deliberately and slowly.

It’s true you know.
All too often we associate culture with high art, lofty ideas, and marble columns.
It is better understood closer to the dirt where it originated. To a sense of place. So reveals the word itself.
Culture derives from the Latin cultura, a Roman working word for the tilling of a field.
Look deeper and find the root verb colere used for things we do not necessarily associate together today: to till the ground, to dwell in a place, to honor and revere.
In short, all the things that allow our songs, our food, our ways and mores, everything that we understand as culture today to thrive.
This is important, for as we become a more globally connected people, ever homogenized by technology, our understanding of culture becomes unrooted from the particular locations where it was formed. This is a tragedy.

If you make one decision to plant one thing next year AND use that plant in your own cooking - make it pasta sauce.
Fresh tomatoes, maybe add some basil, an onion, garlic - you can legitimately grow a pasta garden.
Then a salsa garden. A medicinal garden.
Try it with fresh tomatoes in pasta - absolutely incredible. But if you want to help yourself use your produce in your actual cooking, take what you enjoy eating and work it backwards into a garden for that meal.
