A proven performer in the IPL, MLC, BBL and PSL whenever he has been the chance. One of the few cricketers who has had the opportunity of playing the IPL,MLC,BBL,BPL,PSL,CPL, The Hundred and now the ETPL despite managing his busy international schedule which goes to show the love, commitment and passion he has for the game!
While Steve Smith was a decent and reliable t20 batter who played the role of an anchorman till the end of 2022 and a very good captain, it is since the beginning of 2023 where opening the batting has transformed him into one of the best t20 batters going around.
63 matches
61 innings
2181 runs
AVG: 41.94
SR: 154.57
100's-6

How is he not in the Australian t20i team is a complete joke. The dirty politics of George Bailey are there for all to see.
Australian Cricket have failed to make to 3 consecutive t20 WC knockouts without him which is hardly surprising.
Steve Smith has made his intentions very clear that 2028 Olympics is his dream and he's working hard to achieve that goal and I'm 100% certain he will make it.
Best wishes to Steve Smith on his 300th t20 game!

Social media has a habit of building a player up in its own head and then getting angry when real one doesn't match imaginary version.
Tall, quick, bats top order, ticks every box a team could want. Cameron Green never once stood up & declared himself the next great all rounder. People just decided that's what he was supposed to be, built the expectation themselves & now troll him whenever reality doesn't match the fantasy they invented.
Strip away this noise & his numbers tell a calmer story. Green has batted everywhere from 3 to 8 in his career, shuffled around more than most & only played more than 10 innings at one spot. Narrow it to the middle order, positions 4, 5 and 6 & since 2022 he has scored 1233 runs at 41.1.
On Australian pitches that have turned into minefields these days for batters generally, that's not a bad number. It's actually better than Travis Head managed batting in the same positions over the same stretch, which people conveniently forget to mention.
Take him away from home & his average climbs to 46, with genuine match winning innings in Pakistan, Sri Lanka, New Zealand & West Indies(majority of them in low scoring conditions where runs came hard for everyone). In the middle order(4,5,6) since 2022, his average sits above Joe Root's in same window. That's a stat nobody bothers checking before typing overrated.
Now add 184 runs in 3 innings against Bangladesh, top of the pile in a series where only one Aussie batter crossed 35 in an innings. Maybe this becomes the point where his story finally starts to look different from the one people on social media had written for him.

Great beak down of the slow motion replays and zoomer by Umpire Nitin Menon.
Stand out decision 👌👌
The zoomer from front on showed some sort of bounce but that’s cos of the gradient of ground.
The side angle made it clear.
Good catch by Varun but even better from Nitin Menon.👏👏 #ipl2026

You will never see a more learning cricketer than Steve Smith... He was once most important foreign player in IPL back in 2014 - 15.. He used to hit in gaps and feild and captain and used to win matches and tournaments including Champions league, BBL already back in 2010s early days... Then came six hitting era which wasn't his ideal gameplay.. Got dropped from International t20 team and IPL.. And now again slotted himself as opener and is hitting huge sixes and has upped his T20 game like never before... All these at age 36...still averages 55 + in test cricket, top 5 test batting ranking and is going strong... So proud of you hero.. ❤️
