Easterly winds on Thursday & Friday will lead to periods of enhanced winds due to downsloping along the Wasatch Front, especially near the mouths of canyons. There is a 60% chance of gusts exceeding 60 mph from Bountiful to Ogden. Periods of elevated winds are also possible across portions of eastern Box Elder, Cache, & northeastern Salt Lake counties.

Prepare for potentially dangerous winds! Dangerous easterly downslope winds are expected to develop Thursday morning, peaking mid-day Thursday, and continuing into Friday morning. Now is the time to prepare! The highest impacts are expected in prone areas in Weber and Davis counties, with gusts between 70-85 mph likely. Other areas, such as Salt Lake, eastern Box Elder, and Cache counties, can expect wind gusts between 50-70 mph across eastern portions of valleys.
