This happened in Toronto yesterday outside quiet Yom Kippur prayer services.
By allowing anti-Jewish harassment to target every Jewish gathering, including prayer services, the Canadian authorities have created the current situation where violence against Jews is increasingly pervasive.
This is freedom to harass and terrorize Jews, not freedom of speech.

The security situation for Jewish Canadians has been bad since October 7. The once safe decent & delightful Canada is becoming notorious for bigotry and menace towards its Jewish citizens. @markcarney & his govt sound sympathetic but the reaction and stand against violence & hate is weak. That is a real worry
Last night, on the holiest night of the Jewish calendar, a shooting took place outside the Sons of Jacob Synagogue in Belleville.
A police officer was shot and the community has been left shaken.
Jewish people must be able to worship safely. To live free, open, proud Jewish lives. Canada’s government will do everything in our power to support law enforcement in ensuring that the perpetrator is held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.
My thoughts are with the injured officer and his family, and the entire Jewish community.

🚨 BREAKING | POLICE OFFICER SHOT OUTSIDE CANADIAN SYNAGOGUE ON YOM KIPPUR, THE HOLIEST DAY IN THE JEWISH CALENDAR.
A Belleville police officer was injured in a shooting outside the Sons of Jacob Synagogue in Belleville, Ontario, during Yom Kippur observances on Sunday evening, according to officials and local reports. The officer was providing security, returned fire, and is being called a hero. He is not in critical condition. The suspected shooter was also shot and taken to hospital in life-threatening condition.
Canada has failed the Jewish community, and no one takes this matter seriously. The politicians at all levels of government have delivered nothing except lip service.
I pray for the injured police officer and I wish him the fastest and best recovery.
This is not just the Jewish community’s issue. This is Canada’s problem. And this is not just a simple hate crime — this is terrorism, which needs to be fully investigated by the RCMP and CSIS.

The Canadian campus antisemitism crisis, and it is a crisis, is not theoretical and goes well beyond "mean social media posts." A sampling of the 1,200 open comments from Jewish students seen here describe death threats, Holocaust denial, Nazi chants, doxxing, spitting, and abuse for being visibly Jewish. The Liberal Government was well aware of this going back to as early as early 2024 when its own Justice Committee heard testimonies from students and called for university actions among its recommendations. The Liberal government then did nothing to ensure compliance, consequences, or progress. Instead they stuck the report on a proverbial shelf and terminated the office that commissioned it.
It's a systemic failure to act and responsibility for that starts right at the top.
The Canadian campus antisemitism crisis data is shocking. But it is the 1200 samples of open comments from Jewish students that are the gut punch. Repeated threats and holocaust denial that have nothing to do with definitions yet some seem ready to excuse.

Liel Hetzroni (age 12) begged the Palestinian terrorists to let her go after they abducted her during the 10/7 terror attack.
But the Hamas monsters murdered her.
It look forensic investigators nearly 6 weeks to identify her. All that remained of her innocent little body was ash and bone fragments.
Pro-Palestinian activists praised the 10/7 attack as "justified resistance". But this wasn't resistance — it was a genocide attempt.
Nearly 1,200 people, virtually all Jewish Israelis, were massacred that day.
Meanwhile, Liel's dad, Gavin Heller, told BBC that Liel and her brother were killed for one reason and one reason only: "because they were Jewish."
Liel was turned to ash. This is what her father told BBC about her remains.
"They just found remnants of Liel... initially they didn't have enough pieces to make a formal identification. They identified her literally by sieving the remnants. This will unfortunately live with me for the rest of my life."
This is a true story.

Extremely concerned at what appears to be an arson attack on Nöam, a local kosher restaurant that serves as a hub for Montreal’s Jewish community.

June 1, @MarkJCarney launched a "Ministerial Advisory Council on Rights, Equality and Inclusion" as an #AllLivesMatter approach to deal with "hate in all its forms".
Since his Holy Blossom speech, it seems things got worse for Canada's Jews and Jewish businesses. Easy to see why
