We're paying too much taxes to the wrong government. For illustration purposes, the average Alberta family has a total income of $172,000 (Fraser Institutes, 2025). Total tax bill: $65,000 (income taxes, GST, property taxes, payroll contributions like CPP & EI, fuel/excise taxes, etc.) How are those taxes distributed? Federal: $43,400 (~67%) Provincial: $17,000 (~26%) Municipal: $4,200 (–7%) Note: Municipal is mostly property tax; the education portion of your property tax bill goes to the province. GST and most of CPP/EI land in the federal column. Numbers are rounded for clarity and are not precise for any individual household. So the government that picks up your garbage, keeps your water running, maintains your roads, and shows up when your house is on fire gets about 7% of the average Alberta household’s total tax bill. On the other side, the one that decides how much of your money goes to other countries, how the equalization formula works, and what the national carbon policy looks like, gets roughly two-thirds. That’s not a rounding error. That’s the system working exactly as designed. Your local council has to balance its budget every year and answer for potholes and snow removal. Ottawa can run deficits for decades and still tell Alberta it’s “not paying its fair share” while collecting the largest slice of the pie. The province sits in the middle, running health care and education while also collecting education property tax on top of income tax. It’s backwards. The decisions that hit your driveway tomorrow are funded by the smallest share of you money. The decisions that hit your paycheque for the rest of your life are funded by the largest share, and those decisions are made the farthest away. An independent Alberta wouldn’t magically make every problem disappear. But it would at least put the biggest tax bill and the biggest decisions in the same place... closer to the people who actually live with the results. An independent Alberta is the only path forward.

Congratulations to Paul St-Pierre Plamondon and the Parti Québécois on electing a sovereigntist government in Quebec. The same media that treats Quebec sovereignty as legitimate sneers at Alberta’s movement as “separatist,” radical and disloyal. The double standard is blatant.

I’ve honestly never seen anything like this in my life. People are absolutely LOSING their minds over Albertans getting to vote. If you’re so sure Team Canada is going to win, then why are you all acting like Alberta asking a question is a national emergency? First we’re “seppies.” Then we’re “traitors.” Then “extremists.” Now apparently we’re secretly becoming the 51st state, there’s some grand Trump plot, America is coming to scoop us up, Russia is lurking in the bushes, foreign interference is everywhere, and democracy itself is apparently in danger because Albertans might check a box you don’t like. What’s next? Putin personally printed the ballots while Trump hid under Danielle Smith’s desk? The propaganda is so overcooked it’s starting to parody itself. Premiers. Prime ministers. Former premiers. Former prime ministers. Media outlets. Political talking heads. Everyone clutching their pearls because Alberta might actually get a say in Alberta’s future. We should ALWAYS get a say. It’s called Democracy!!!!! You work for us, remember??? Even when you hate the question. Even when you hate the people asking it. Even when you’re terrified of the answer. The fearmongering. The polls. The “foreign interference.” The 51st-state hysteria. The economic apocalypse predictions. The name-calling. And the boomers are BOOMING. I swear I’m living in the Twilight Zone. “Govern me harder, Daddy. Tax me more. Take more of my money. Ignore me harder. Just PLEASE don’t let my neighbours vote.” At this point it’s become so cartoonishly ridiculous that normal people aren’t even taking the bait anymore. And somehow, with every new hysterical headline, they look more desperate. If independence is truly as unpopular as they keep telling us, then relax. Let Alberta vote. The absolute panic is telling.

We won? * not one oil company has signed on * not one dollar of private investment * no route finalized * Indian bands say they’ll sue * Enron-style carbon payments * tied to $30B in carbon capture taxes Who on earth do you work for these days?
Take a bow, Alberta WE WON!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Every line of this is what we Albertans have been saying for years! Total repudiation of the Trudeau-Guilbault energy policy! “Global oil demand will remain in the tens of millions of barrels a day for decades to come. “So the question is: who will be the world’s trusted supplier of oil for years to come. It should be us. It must be Canada.” 🇨🇦 💪🏼

This referendum has exposed something larger than the independence question. It has shown Albertans what happens when ordinary citizens challenge an entrenched political order. Governments speak, premiers speak, former premiers speak, federal politicians speak, senators speak, unions speak, universities speak, business organizations speak and taxpayer-funded advertising speaks. Standing across from that institutional wall are thousands of private Albertans saying something very simple: we would like to reconsider this arrangement. That is the real picture of this referendum. – at Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan

Because Jesus didn't sexually abuse an 8 year old. Because Jesus wasn't a warlord. Because Jesus didn't kill anyone. Because Jesus didn't have slaves. Because Jesus doesn't hate those who aren't Christian. Because Jesus didn't murder sinners. Should I go on?

They don't have new arguments against Alberta independence. They have a rotation of propaganda. Fake polls. "Expert" spin. Fear. Smears. Then repeat.

Supporters of Option 2 put it this way: Option 1 tells Ottawa: keep things as they are. Option 2 starts a constitutional process that could change Alberta’s negotiating position. Status quo — or a process for change? That is the choice Albertans are being asked to consider.
