Here's a blast from the past. Sept 1998, playing with the incredible Russell Brothers, Kevin and Brad Russell, at New Georges in San Rafael, CA. I learned so much from these guys in the 8 years we were a band. We played some great music together, Damn, we sounded good!!!!
This Saturday I'll be playing with Dan Ashley (yes, that Dan Ashley, ABC7 News) at the Pacific Coast Fog Fest in Pacifica, CA at 2:45PM. We'll be rockin' Dan's original Americana tunes as well as some covers. This will be fun! All info at pacificcoastfogfest.com.
This Friday I will again be making music with my friends, the great @MaxxCabelloJr and @timhallen at the @poorhousebistro in San Jose, CA. 6-9 PM. These shows get packed, they're a blast! Come out early and get a seat.
This Saturday evening I'll be makin' music with my friends, the great @MaxxCabelloJr and Cris Snyder opening for Tortilla Soup at Guglielmo Winery in Morgan Hill, CA. We're playing Blues, R&B and Soul in a beautiful venue. Come out early and get a seat, it should be a blast!
All I have to say is that there's no, "he's still got it." There's no still about it! Smokey was killin' it! The audience was eating out of his hand. I thought, "I'd better go see him, he's 86, he's going to be at it for years to come. Looking great, healthy and sounding great!
I'm loving my new kit! Here's the set-up I used for the Jeff Beck Tribute. Yamaha has nailed it with the wood combinations, the mounting system, the air holes, everything. These drums sound phenominal, they feel incredible and they look stunning. mikevanderhule.com
Great show last night Deep Purple, Kansas and Jefferson Starship at Shoreline. So cool to see legendary Ian Paice killing it, Donny Baldwin laying it down solid. My pal Eric Holmquist doing a great job drumming for the mighty Kansas. My buddy Jude Gold killing it with Starship!
Great show last night! Styx and Chicago at the Concord Pavillion. My pal Todd Sucherman abosolutely on fire as ususual. And a super fun drum hang after. It's always good to see Ross Valory as well.
This Wed I'm filling in with The Neverland Band playing a bunch of fun Rock 'n' Roll covers on Murphy Ave in Sunnyvale, CA. 6-8:30 PM! I'm guessin' my yacht rock attire won't be appropriate I'd better wear black... The stage may not be this big and cool either (fun with AI).

So sad to learn of the passing of Frank Beard. I love the way this guy played! Such a slinky groove and great shuffles. He was a big influence. I loved watching him play with ZZ in concert.
We've got a couple more Jeff Beck Tribute shows coming up. These shows are always a blast! Great music with such great players, you don't want to miss them!
