🏐 Gaelic Games OFF-SEASON CONDITIONING 🏐
The off-season is a great opportunity to build the engine for next year! 💪
Here’s a simple pitch-based conditioning drill that can be incorporated into pre-season preparation.
🔹 Block 1: 45m hard run / 45m easy run
🔹 Block 2: 100m hard run / 100m easy run
🔹 Block 3: 65m hard run / 65m easy run
⏱️ Complete each block continuously for 4 minutes. Take 2 minutes rest between each 4 minutes and repeat a 2nd time
Coaching points:
✅ Hard runs at a strong, controlled pace.
✅ Easy runs used for active recovery.
✅ Focus on good running mechanics and consistency.
✅ Progress the volume and intensity gradually
🎯 The goal: Build aerobic fitness, improve recovery between high-intensity efforts and develop the physical foundation needed for the demands of Gaelic football and hurling.
Remember, the off-season isn't about doing more for the sake of it — it's about building smart, recovering well and arriving at pre-season ready to go.
