Today I visited St Gerard Majella Primary School and Cairns West State School with Matt Smith MP to speak with students about Australia’s democracy, the role of our institutions, and the responsibilities we all share in sustaining them.

It was an honour to be the Presiding Officer at today’s citizenship ceremony in Brisbane, welcoming 1200 new Aussies and sharing in such a special moment with so many Oxley Locals.
I was delighted to officially open the new Ground Floor Library alongside the Governor-General of Australia and the President of the Senate, as we celebrate 125 years of the @ParlLibrary.

It was an honour to host a group of very impressive young leaders alongside the Governor-General of Australia as part of the @RaiseUrVoiceAU Youth Voice in Parliament Week.
It is an enormous privilege and honour to be elected the 32nd President of the @IPUparliament as the first Australian and person from the Pacific to lead the world’s oldest multilateral organisation.
I am deeply appreciative of global support which has recognised Australia’s Parliament as a world leader when it comes to parliamentary diplomacy - this was a team Australia moment.
