₦1,300 to $1: Naira Would Have Become Worthless Without My Policy —Pres. Tinubu Defends Currency Reforms
President Bola Tinubu has defended his administration’s exchange rate policy, insisting that the naira would have become completely worthless without the decision to unify Nigeria’s exchange rates.
Speaking at an All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rally in Akwa Ibom on Friday, Tinubu dismissed concerns over the currency’s depreciation, arguing that its current value of about N1,300 to the dollar was still worth something.
He claimed that without the policy introduced shortly after he assumed office in 2023, Nigerians would have needed wheelbarrows to transport money when shopping.
“If we didn’t take a decision on the day I took over, we would be using wheelbarrow to move our naira because it would have been valueless,” the president said.
Reacting to complaints about the naira’s decline, Tinubu added, “You’re talking of N1,300 to a dollar. Huh, huh, it still has pocketable value. If we had left it, it would have been a wheelbarrow when you go to the tomato market.”
The president announced the unification of Nigeria’s exchange rates days after taking office in 2023.
The policy triggered a sharp depreciation of the naira, which fell from approximately N750 to the dollar to around N1,900 before recovering to its current level of about N1,300.

The future of transportation in Lagos is taking shape and we are making steady progress.
Phase 2 of the Lagos Blue Line Rail Project will extend the existing line from Mile 2 to Okokomaiko, bringing six new stations and connecting more communities along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
Work is progressing on the tracks, bridges and stations, with the first three stations at Festac, Alakija and Trade Fair scheduled to open by the end of February 2027.
Our vision is a Lagos where people spend less time travelling and more time living, working and building their future.
We are turning that vision into reality, one project at a time.

Obi Who Wants To Be President Could Not Control Erosion And Ran Away From Anambra, I Confronted The Atlantic Ocean And Tamed It For You – President Tinubu
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has taken a swipe at former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar while addressing supporters during a political rally in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Speaking at the rally, Tinubu criticised Obi over the erosion challenges in Anambra State, claiming that the former governor failed to confront the problem before leaving office.
“One governor (Peter Obi) claimed he is in one party they call NDC who is running for president. He ran away from erosion in Anambra state, he couldn’t confront erosion”
“I, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I confronted the Atlantic Ocean. I tamed it for you,” the President said.
Tinubu also questioned Atiku’s political loyalty, referencing his departure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and subsequent political realignments.
“They lack leadership and character. If a man (Atiku) that was once upon a time a baby of PDP became father later and because of a little inconvenience he ran away from that party and formed a dangerous camp in another party, is that a leadership trait!!! And he wants you to vote for him!” he added.

I Am The Supreme King And Also Number One King In Yorubaland – Alaafin Of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade Declares
The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, has declared himself the number one king in Yorubaland, insisting that historical records support his position.
The monarch made the statement during an appearance on the State Affairs Podcast yesterday, where he was asked about his position among traditional rulers in Yorubaland.
Speaking during the interview, Oba Owoade said, “I am the supreme king in Yoruba land and the number one king in Yoruba land.”
He further stated, “Well historically I am, Alaafin is number one.”
When asked directly whether he considered himself the number one king in Yorubaland, the monarch maintained his position, responding:
“Historically just I have said to you, I am very confident about that, I am the number one.”

IFA was invented by Yorubas. The Fon you mentioned already acknowledged the Ife origin of Ifa by the 19th century, see pic 1,2.
Nothing about Al-raml or Zenati documented binary science corresponds to IFA, that has already been debunked by Anthropologist William Bascom. 3,4.
Yoruba did not invent Ifa. They imported it.
Before you let your emotions take over, calm yourself down. The original name of this system was ʿIlm al-Raml, The Science of Sand. It was developed by Black populations in Aswan and the Nile Valley long before it ever reached West Africa.
The whole framework is pure binary mathematics. It uses a base of 16 figures that multiply out into 256 probabilities. This is what Yoruba people call the 256 Odu.
If you want to know, go and read the historical manuscripts of North African scholars especially that of Shaykh Abdallah al-Zanati.
He documented this binary science centuries ago. Every single one of the 16 primary Odu in Ifa has a direct Arabic mathematical equivalent in Zanati’s records.
The figure the Arabs called Tariq is what the Yoruba call Ogbe. The figure they called Jama'a is what the Yoruba call Oyeku. The mathematical coding is identical. You cannot debate this.
When ancient people migrated from the Nubian corridors and Arab Trans-Saharan trade routes opened up, Islamic scholars and merchants brought this architectural blueprint with them into West Africa.
The Yoruba are genius custodians. They assimilated it brilliantly. They mapped this imported Arab-transmitted science onto their own indigenous cosmology, attributed it to Orunmila, and named it Ifa.
But being a great preserver is not the same as being the originator.
This is why you find the very same system everywhere along those migration routes. The Fon call it Fa. The Ewe call it Afa. In Madagascar it is Sikidy. The medieval Europeans even copied it and translated the Arabic name into Geomancy.
If we have been quiet about this, it does not mean we do not know. History does not care about modern sentiments.
By historical origin and transmission, Ifa is Esin Arabu. The blueprint came from Aswan and arrived through Arab corridors.
Facts don’t lie.
Allah knows best.

Funny enough, the Arabic divination system that some people claim is the origin of Yoruba Ifa may not even have been invented by the Arabs. 🤣
The system, known as Ilm al-Raml (the Science of Sand), has possible origins in North Africa, with some theories suggesting roots extending as far back as predynastic Egypt. Although such an early Egyptian origin has not been established, scholars have seriously considered indigenous North African contributions to the development of geomancy.
The practice subsequently spread throughout the Islamic world and reached medieval Europe through Arabic-language scholarship, including transmission through Moorish Spain during the 12th century.
So why do people automatically assume that because a divination system was preserved in Arabic, it must have been invented by Arabs?
Now, if I wanted to be petty, I could easily turn this argument around. 🤣
I could point to the Ifa tradition in which Orunmila dispatched the sixteen principal Odu toward the four cardinal directions: north, south, east, and west.
Then I could argue that the knowledge of Ifa travelled northward, entered North Africa, and eventually spread across the Islamic world.
After all, if people can claim that Ifa came from Arabic geomancy simply because both systems have sixteen principal signs, why couldn't I reverse the argument?
I could even bring genetics into the discussion.
Ancient DNA research has proposed Taforalt-related ancestry in genetic models involving Yoruba populations. Taforalt refers to an ancient North African population that lived in present-day Morocco approximately 15,000 years ago.
I could argue that ancient population movements connected North Africa and West Africa, and that ancestral groups may have carried related forms of divination southward.
Or perhaps older West African traditions travelled northward.
But I won't make either claim as established history, because genetic connections and mathematical similarities do not prove the transmission of a religious system.
That is the difference between investigating history and inventing conclusions to support an argument.
The reality is that Yoruba Ifa and Arabic geomancy are two significantly different divination systems.
Ifa has sixteen principal Odu, which combine into 256 Odu, each associated with an extensive corpus of sacred verses, philosophical teachings, historical narratives, and ritual prescriptions.
Arabic geomancy uses sixteen fundamental figures arranged through a different method involving geomantic houses, witnesses, and a judge.
The instruments, divination procedures, interpretive traditions, and religious foundations are substantially different.
Only an idiot who has never actually studied or practiced Ifa would look at sixteen binary signs and confidently declare that the two systems are identical.
Sharing a mathematical structure does not establish common origin, much less prove that one civilization borrowed its entire religious tradition from another.
If you believe Arabic geomancy gave birth to Yoruba Ifa, provide historical evidence demonstrating that transmission.
Otherwise, stop confusing similarities with proof of invention.
And perhaps spend some time actually studying Ifa before lecturing Yoruba people about where their religious knowledge supposedly came from.
You Muslims need to stop creating fake history. This only gives Islam, your faith, a bad name.
