In most of the modern world, when a favorite ceramic bowl shatters on the floor, you sweep up the pieces and throw them in the trash. Even if you glue it back together, you try to make the cracks invisible so nobody notices it was broken. In Japan, artisans have spent 500 years doing the exact opposite. The art is called Kintsugi, which translates to golden joinery. It began in the 15th century when Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimasa broke his prized tea bowl. Instead of hiding the damage with ugly metal staples, Japanese craftsmen mixed natural urushi tree sap lacquer with pure powdered 24-karat gold to fuse the broken shards back together. The process takes up to three months of patient curing in humid wooden cabinets. When finished, the golden veins are not treated as flaws to be hidden. Craftsmen call those glowing seams Keshiki, meaning a new landscape. Japanese culture teaches a quiet truth we all need to hear. A vessel is not ruined because it broke. Its scars are proof that it survived.

The cemetery foxes are thriving ever since the human intruders left. I so love to see them running wild and free. Mum Spring and dad Bertie are playing with their youngsters to their hearts' delight! 🦊🔥🧡 PS: Sorry I did not post much over the last few weeks, I was really ill and out of action.
