$HYPE
After big upmoves like this - we often see sophisticated traders collar their position by selling a call and buying a put (saw this with $ZEC at the $1500 level).
In this structure, you lock in your $HYPE gains if there's a drawdown below $80 (+ free up dry powder), and give up your upside past $120, out to December 25.
You actually get paid $0.10 to put this trade on, so if you have a 100,000 $HYPE bag you want to protect to buy dips, you get can collect ~$10,000 USD in the process.

Toros Options are live on @base, powered by @DeriveXYZ
Trade BTC, ETH, HYPE, ZEC and SOL options with a 1% premium cashback for launch.
Toros routes through Derive’s order book and market makers to bring you the lowest spread onchain options anywhere.
Most people still underestimate how much onchain options will shape crypto markets.
the spot bitcoin etfs lost $635.6 million thursday, the biggest outflow since june, one day after taking in $528.4 million. the week is still +$442.7 million
same day, the options desk moved the other way: derive's odds of 100,000 by christmas went from 9.7% to 12% this week and under 70,000 fell from 15.6% to 11%. the etf crowd sold the dip and the options crowd bought it

Cool story behind this.
@onchainquant hit me up over DM wanting to sell 100,000xDec 4.5C on $LIT after seeing my post trying to buy some off Flood.
We chat for 15 minutes or so, coordinate the RFQ on @DeriveXYZ, and we both get filled at mid, each saving probably 5-10k of spread that would have gone to bitch ass market makers.
@nickforster calls @DeriveXYZ the "infinite payoff factory", but it's also the infinite PvP dick measuring venue for traders who want to directly express opposing views without needing to worry about spreads and escrows etc.
Extremely cool tech, very bullish $DRV, and ty @onchainquant for not being a pussy and actually filling some of my $LIT call demand.

Last 30 days:
+ 90% of onchain options market
+ 5% of Deribit’s volumes
+ Just did $1.07B notional traded in 1 week
+ Team's fully aligned around ethereum:0xb1d1eae60eea9525032a6dcb4c1ce336a1de71be, no equity
+ V3 went live with zero issue, now zkVM on Ethereum
One of my highest conviction bets in my portfolio, still adding at these prices.
In "Breaking the Wall," @citrini gave DERIVE $DRV a 10% weight, tied for the biggest in its 15-token crypto portfolio
The bull case is mass adoption of on-chain options to hedge tokenized stocks and commodities
Derive had 74.9% of onchain options volume as of Sept 25, and its V3 upgrade went live Oct 6th.
V3 lists BTC, ETH, HYPE and other alts, plus only one real-world asset group: gold, via XAUT. The biggest room for growth is in the RWA space IMO.
The volume is real. Options volume hit $14.22B this year by Sept 25, about 2.6x all of 2025, with a record $3.43B in September
The token has been on a huge run lately. $DRV ran to an all-time high of $0.569 on Oct 9th from $0.137 on Sept 16th. Most of that move happened before Citrini published
Fees per trade are shrinking, though. Derive earned 1.19 bps of volume in September, its lowest of the year
So revenue went the other way. Q3 came in at $1.69M vs $1.88M in Q2, despite record volume
Value capture got stronger on Oct 14th. Holders voted 47.69M to 0 to send 50% of net fees to DRV buybacks, up from 35%, with the other half going to the insurance fund
Buybacks are SO hot right now.
When Nick Forster came on @MilkRoadDaily in August, he told me the core contributors never raised money into an equity entity, so the token is the one instrument in the Derive ecosystem
That is so powerful to hear because it makes the investment thesis very clear and simple. Everyone is aligned on the token. No nonsense. I love this
More than 28M DRV has been bought back so far
For context, about $6.6M of annualized revenue against a $429M market cap is roughly 65x. Which is rich. But it reflects how strongly so many believe in the potential of an onchain options product
Supply: 1.0B of 1.5B DRV circulates per CoinGecko, and 230M contributor tokens vest over 4 years now that their $150M market cap gate is met
The prize is big if this works out. Onchain options open interest is about $2B vs about $40B globally, and Forster puts Deribit at 70-75% of crypto options
So, the market is huge, but competition is coming.
@Lighter_xyz's Trevor King @trevor_flipper told me on @MilkRoadDaily that Lighter plans to have a full options suite by the end of the year
Hyperliquid and many other big players will also be coming after Derive's market, but Nick and his team have been locked in exclusively on onchain options for many years now, and they have a really high-quality product.
I don't think any of this hits primetime until 2027 at the earliest. Capital is still getting used to things like Perps and Prediction Markets. I don't think they're going to be ready for onchain options for a little bit yet. But this is coming. And soon. And with size.
Once $DRV starts moving into equities options and not just crypto and gold, the onchain options markets are going to rip. At that point, Citrini's 10% allocation to $DRV could start to look like a brilliant move.
I was early to $UNI (+54.8%), $AERO (+93.7%), and $SOL (+39.1%) in my Milk Road PRO portfolio

Over the last 30 days, Derive has remained over 90% of the onchain options market. In that same time frame, we’ve done about 5% of Deribit’s options volumes, up from 0.1% a year ago.
It’s difficult to build momentum in this category because of the uniquely strong network effects around options markets. Users and market makers hold positions and collateral on exchange for the duration of an option, often many months. The difficulty and cost of integration are a liquidity provider is an order of magnitude higher than perps. Options markets are also the last vertical to mature in any asset class.
Onchain has finally broken the dam - and Derive, alongside all of our builders and partners, has a chance to redefine the options category, first in crypto, and then beyond.
The tailwinds are enormous, and still underappreciated by most people I speak with.
1. Bringing options liquidity onchain unlocks more functionality than any other vertical: programmable, composable building blocks for precise, tailored yield generation, hedging, and speculative trades. One click hedges embedded in every brokerage and fintech, yield generation strategies with verifiable backtests and transparent risk, on any asset, new social trading experiences built using the kinds of trades only options can support.
2. AI for UX: the biggest barrier to entry to trading options is understanding. 2026 has seen a step function change in how models reason about options. This has yet to filter through to UX, but is coming. People shouldn’t trade options if they don’t understand them. But - given they want to express an opinion about the market - they should be able to find the best way to translate that into a trade. Options are often the best way to do so.
3. AI for agentic trading: options give you thousands of ways to express a view across strikes, expiries and structures. For many traders this is overwhelming, but for agents, it’s a much more useful set of choices. My wager is that agents will prefer specificity and precision when executing trades: not just whether an asset goes up or down, but how far, by when, and with how much risk. Options are the answer.
These tailwinds are strengthening just as our liquidity hits an inflection point. Big integrations take time to come to fruition, but we’re seeing the results month by month, with many more in the pipeline. At the same time, we’ve completed our biggest infrastructure upgrade in 3 years, taking what was already a leading onchain product into what I believe is the best options infrastructure anywhere.
We have so much more work to do, and will be constantly taking feedback, iterating on the product, and ensuring that every dollar of liquidity that onboards to Derive is earned. But we really are only at the dawn of the last major trading vertical to move onchain, and in my opinion, it will be the largest.

derive v3: options on ethereum mainnet 👀
Derive V3 is live.
The migration completed successfully and trading has resumed.
We've rebuilt Derive to compound our growth in onchain options, with custody on Ethereum, ZK proofs for margin and settlement, and sub-millisecond order matching.
What does this entail?
➤ Launch no-code vaults and earn fees
➤ Free up capital with ETH + BTC risk offsets
➤ Earn and borrow across ETH, WBTC, HYPE + USDC
➤ Faster listings across crypto and RWAs
➤ Build and monetise apps on Derive with less setup
We'll build on this foundation with new markets, vaults and partner integrations over the coming weeks.
