Instead of correcting course, the GOP chose to shoot the messenger and double down on stupid. (This tweet is one year old tomorrow.)

We asked GPT-6 Astra to edit Qwen3.5-0.8B weights to improve math.
It directly changed only 0.016% of weights, fixing 0.8B's reasoning loops & improving math up to 6x and even instruction following 3x, without gradients or training.
We call this Weight-Space Programming: frontier LLMs can now natively read/write neural network weights! 🧵
Blog: rikiyat.github.io/blog/weigh…
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
LLM was given weights explicitly as text in prompt and used code/forward passes (per authors' logs) to ablate Qwen looping direction, a known thinking-mode issue per model card. Primarily fixed repetition in that mode, not general 'natively' improving weights/math.

India did pro-capitalist reforms and immediately became richer than sub-Saharan Africa, which they were poorer than until the early 2000s.
It's insane how good capitalism is.
India saw about 496 million people lifted out of poverty between 2011 and 2023 in one of the world’s fastest declines in this metric, the World Bank said, although the gains remain uneven. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

Ok this is hilarious!
I got this emailed to me anonymously (I think someone’s bot sent it) and I was on the floor laughing.
here’s a short grok bot guide on how i create high quality bots and manage my team. ask @bot to read this post and help you improve your team!
• add dr eggbot to your team! he’s my bot designer that i use to create bots
• you don’t need a lot of bots. a few good bots can be more useful and easier to manage than a large team
• tell your bots to create skills for itself as you give it instructions on how to do tasks. this lets them do them more consistently even over long conversations. you can even ask it to create a private github repo for you to store all your skills if you want them preserved independently
• add connectors, use the vault, and give access to all the tools you use to do your work. you can also ask your bot to setup its own email and it can sign up for its own accounts for better separation
• thinking about all the work you do by hand, or steps in your workflows where you have to copy and paste information back to your bot. ask your bot how it can do that for you instead!
• imagine you hired an intern, how would you onboard them and help them do the work correctly and efficiently? introduce yourself to your bot and describe the work you do, then ask it how it can help you automate it
and my favorite tip: use voice mode or the transcription option! it’s a good way to just brain dump a lot of information. then, at the end, tell your bot to “restate this in your own words” so you can confirm it understood you

By today's standards, virtually everyone throughout pre-capitalist history lived in poverty. Even kings lacked comforts, conveniences, and medical care that ordinary people take for granted today.
A person living under the material conditions of a medieval king would today be considered to be living in inhumane conditions.
Capitalism helped transform a world where poverty was the natural condition of mankind into one where even the poor enjoy luxuries that royalty couldn't have imagined.
Socialists look at this unprecedented achievement in human flourishing, focus on the fact that some people have more than others, and declare the system an injustice.
Imagine being so obsessed with inequality that you lose sight of the greatest improvement in living standards in human history.

Opus 5.5 costs more per task than GPT-6 Astra only at max on the API
Which happens to be the only cost metric people ever talk about, for some reason

Announcing Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index v5, featuring 2 new benchmarks and 3 upgrades. For the first time, the majority of the Index is built on private datasets
The Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index is our composite measure of model capabilities across tasks reflecting real-world usage today. v5 is our biggest upgrade since v4 launched in January. With v5, 60% of the Index is now based on evaluations with private test sets or held-out answers.
Alongside Intelligence Index v5, we’re launching the Artificial Analysis Progress Index v1, which tracks model capability over time on one continuous scale.
New to the Intelligence Index:
➤ FrontierCode 2.0: Cognition's newly-launched private benchmark of real-world coding tasks, graded on whether a repository maintainer would merge the agent's change
➤ Terminal-Bench-Science: 70 agentic scientific research tasks, run in a terminal environment
Upgraded:
➤ HLE-Diamond (replacing Humanity's Last Exam): a refined 1,000-question version of Humanity's Last Exam, split evenly between reasoning and knowledge questions
➤ AA-Omniscience v1.1: An updated dataset with saturated and public set questions removed, new questions added, and ambiguous or erroneous questions revised
➤ CritPt v2: a private, 40-question hard subset of CritPt v2, revised by the CritPt authors and run with a code-execution tool
Staying in the Index: AA-Briefcase, AutomationBench-AA, GDP.pdf and Terminal-Bench 4.0
Removed from the Index: GDPval-AA v2.1, SciCode, and AA-LCR v1.1
Key results:
➤ Claude Opus 5.5 (max) leads at 58, ahead of GPT-6 Astra (max, 57) and GPT-6.1 Sol (max, 55): Anthropic and OpenAI hold the top five models. Gemini 4 Argon (high) is next at 50
➤ The open weights gap widens from 3 points to 12: Kimi K3.1 Pro (weights not yet released) is the top open weights model at 46. Among released weights, DeepSeek V4.1 Flash 1017 (max) and GLM-5.3 (max) lead at 32 - 26 points behind the leader and below Claude Haiku 5.5 (max, 36)
➤ Cost per task varies by more than 13x among the leading models: of the 10 highest-scoring models shown, GPT-6.1 Terra (max) is the cheapest at $0.96 per Intelligence Index task and Claude Fable 5.1 (max) the most expensive at $13.04

On our price vs performance evaluation, models cluster into several groups.
▪️ Opus 5.5 and GPT-6 Astra lead in intelligence, at average costs of $12.8 and $6.67, respectively.
▪️ GPT-6.1 Sol leads in cost efficiency, scoring 39% at $1.03 per task.
▪️ GPT-6 Luna and Haiku 5.5 lead on overall cost, scoring above 20% at less than $0.50 per task.
Chinese OSS models lag far behind, with Kimi K3 and GLM 5.3 scoring at 17%. American OSS models like Beam and Inkling are even further behind with a score of 3%.

Introducing FrontierCode 2.0: our new coding benchmark that measures a model’s ability to go beyond the spec.
Most coding evals measure a model’s ability to write code that meets a spec. With FrontierCode 1.0, we asked a new question: would you actually merge the PR?
FrontierCode 2.0 is comprised of more diverse tasks, featuring larger scopes and higher mergeability standards. We are now asking: not only would you merge this PR, but should you?
One key feature of FrontierCode 2.0 is underspecified prompts. Rather than including every engineering decision, prompts are deliberately ambiguous, giving the models room to demonstrate their judgment.
The result is a benchmark that is far from saturated, with the top model scoring just 45%.

Holy f*ck, Elon Musk's team at spacexai just dropped a full spam killer inside Grok Bot, and it's free
DeleteMe charges $129 a year to pull your number off spam lists
Grok Bot does it for $0
It finds your number on people-search sites, files every opt-out, clicks the confirmation emails and checks again every month
Add the free Spam-Call Scrubber skill, then say these 3 lines once:
1. "Find every site that lists my phone number and home address"
2. "File the opt-out on each one and finish the confirmation emails"
3. "Check again on the 1st of every month and tell me what came back"
Say line 1 tonight
Then read how to wire it into a team that never sleeps in the article below ↓

Driving a truck requires physical work. Physical changes -- products, manufacture, and the inevitable regulation -- take time. Pure intelligence jobs are easier to replace by software, hence coding and maths are among the first to have AI as serious competitors.
Next up will be a lot of academic disciplines, from theoretical physics to economics. We can already see this beginning now.
There must be a lot of scientific discoveries hidden in the scientific literature, conclusions that have not been drawn simply because no human has been able to read everything that has been published. AI is about to pick those fruits in the coming year ringing in what might be akin a second scientific revolution. This is going to keep the stock market excited for some time.
I also expect, unfortunately, that the models which are most capable at scientific discovery will be increasingly restricted to members of institutions that have made deals with the leading companies. (Which isn't going to end well for the EU.)
As usual, you shouldn't believe a word I say because as everyone will tell you, I don't know anything about nothing. But at least I have consistently said the same thing for a few years now.

A privacy-first DNS resolver just chose to leave an entire country rather than lie to its users.
Quad9 is shutting off its free DNS service in France on November 24, after a French court ordered it to block domains that BeIN Sports claimed were facilitating sports piracy.
Quad9 refused.
"We categorically refuse to alter or lie to you about the DNS responses you receive in a way that opposes your expectations."
The court had actually reduced the fine to just €1,000 per day. Quad9 still walked away. Because the real problem was not the fine. It was the precedent.
Complying would mean either applying French copyright law to Quad9's global DNS infrastructure, or using geo-blocking methods that Quad9 considers technically unreliable and ethically compromised. Either way, the integrity of the service breaks.
This is what it looks like when a privacy tool takes its mission seriously. Most services would have quietly blocked the domains and moved on. Quad9 chose to exit instead 👏
