My favorite Howie Rose moment:
As always, Howie Rose articulates what we're all feeling to a tee. What a ride for the 2024 Mets.

It’s no secret Howie Rose is a Beatles fan, and today was punctuated by the band’s greatest hits. I tried to use some of their lyrics to sum up his illustrious career. I’m named after a Beatles album, I had to do it! nydailynews.com/2026/09/20/m…

You don’t get a moment like this just by being great at your job. You get it by meaning something to people.

I’ve never known a Mets team without Howie, and I’m not ready to live in a world without him broadcasting their games :( His voice filled countless car rides and summer nights with my dad, connecting generations through the team we love. Goodness, what a privilege it’s been ❤️
"Just know that I love you all." @HowieRose signs off from tonight's broadcast, which could be his final one in the Mets radio booth 🫶

Howie Rose says goodbye from the Mets on Sunday. He never had to leave New York to become a legend. No voice has ever better connected us to our teams and our home...and no voice ever will. nytimes.com/athletic/7605520…

Imagine calling yourself a Mets fan and spending your August twisting numbers to try and convince people the best home run hitter in Mets history is cooked… 🤦🏻‍♂️ Pete's hitting the ball harder than any year of his career. 4th hardest in baseball. Walking more than ever. Playing better defense. All while he'll still likely post 30+ HR and 100+ RBI. And that's before you get to what he is in a room. 162 games in back to back years and never takes a day off. Walked into a last-place clubhouse in Baltimore and became its center of gravity. Told reporters he probably didn't deserve an All-Star nod because his April was bad. Proven leader. Oh and that team is now only 1.5 games out of a wildcard spot. Seven years. 264 homers. Franchise leader. Heart and Hustle Award. Homers for Heroes. Service dogs for veterans. Honored a hero after every single game of the 2020 season. Imagine watching all that and rooting for the whiff rate. What a 🔧 #LGM #FIRESTEARNS
Pete Alonso regression is already showing in Year 1 of that 5-year, $155M deal. 2nd-lowest SLG of his career (.463) — basically matching his career low of .459 2nd-lowest OPS of his career (.808) Career-low ISO (.213) 2nd-highest BABIP of his career (.293) 3rd-lowest wOBA of his career (.351) 3rd-highest K% of his career (24.7) 2nd-highest Whiff% of his career (26.9) 2nd-lowest contact% of his career (74.7) Bat speed by year: 2023: 75.7 mph (92nd) 2024: 75.2 mph (91st) 2025: 75.2 mph (89th) 2026: 74.6 mph (77th) Steady drop, already out of the elite range, and the lowest FastSwing% of his career under 50% for the first time in his career (47.8%) This is exactly why locking him up for five years at $155M was not the right move. The Mets were 100% right about letting Pete Alonso walk and he wasn't changing what happened this season!!!!! #LGM

…I can’t see his face without hearing, “and that ball is absolutely scorched to left! 3-run shot, and the Mets have blown it open!” and now I’m depressed
