Jung disturbingly observed that what we have ignored or denied inwardly will then more likely come to us as outer fate. “So, where did this outcome, this event, come from within me?” is a most critical, and potentially liberating, question. ~James Hollis
On the flip side, I had a lengthy discussion with ChatGPT yesterday that confirmed my choice to go with Cologuard instead of a colonoscopy. It concluded...

Yes. Everywhere I look lately, the same lesson is flashing: Balance is key.
Masculine/Feminine; Compassion/Discipline; Safety/Freedom
We’re so out of balance. Teams evangelize for one pole and demonize the other, to the neglect of all reason.
I don’t know how to fix this.
The more I read about the closing of The Modern Times, the angrier I get.
I grew up around drug addiction. I grew up around mental illness.
I've seen enabling. I've seen compassion without wisdom. I've seen what happens when you don't set boundaries with addicts and the mentally ill.
This was both.
You can't just make such offerings as "pay what you can afford" to a community rife with both addiction & mental health issues.
And when those issues arrive at your doorstep no amount of compassion will solve or heal them.
I can't stop shaking my head because I still love this city but, my God, are the inhabitants naive.
"Grappling with these answers is very uncomfortable and difficult... The ‘red–green’ alliance between communist protesters and Islamist extremists feels meaningful to me, as does the paucity of the responses to this criticism from the left."

When anything, even a good thing, becomes one-sided and excludes its opposite, the demonic enters in. Even goodness can be demonic. ~James Hollis
There's some sort of cosmic culinary vortex in NE Mpls -- Saffron, Vinai, Minari, Mestiizo, Oro by Nixta, Diane's Place, NE Social, Diane's Place, and Stelline, all within a few blocks of each other, shouldn't be possible anywhere outside of Manhattan, but here we are.
Not sure if this is viewable to paid Tangle subscribers only, but this week’s reader essay is great. It describes something I’ve experienced multiple times in my ultra-progressive community when I’ve dared to suggest we consider other viewpoints. readtangle.com/otherposts/bl…
This attitude of destruction and desecration will not stop until it has taken down everything beautiful humanity has ever made. Enough.

We quite forget that we can be as deplorably overcome by a virtue as by a vice. There is a sort of frenzied, orgiastic virtuousness which is just as infamous as a vice and leads to just as much injustice and violence. ~CG Jung

“I’d rather my children learn through Shakespeare comedies that authority and moral self-regard tend to make people stupid than have a teacher or a pundit use news stories about the Middle East to explain the meaning of good and evil. The whole point of a great book or painting or beautiful music is that they teach universal, eternal truths that are more vital than political opinions, which by nature are transient and possibly incorrect.”
If you’ve made a big move from one part of the country to another, with no guarantees that it would work out for your finances or career, tell me what spurred your decision and how it worked out.

A passage for the nonconformists, outsiders, and anyone else with the courage to go their own way.

ALT Do not cringe and make yourself small if you are called the black sheep, the maverick, the lone wolf. Those with slow seeing say a non-conformist is a blight on society. But it has been proven over the centuries, that being different means standing at the edge, means one is practically guaranteed to make an original contribution, a useful and stunning contribution to her culture. When seeking guidance, don't ever listen to the tiny-hearted. Be kind to them, heap them with blessing, cajole them, but do not follow their advice. If you have ever been called defiant, incorrigible, forward, cunning, insurgent, unruly, rebellious, you're on the right track. – Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Women Who Run with the Wolves
