Thanks for everyone for joining us today for the joint @ECPR_Migration and @MobilEU_Project workshop looking at emigrant voting.
Presenting data on the Irish case from the MobilEU project at #PSAI23 this morning.
Reminder: the business meeting of the standing group on migration and ethnicity is on this evening at 6.15 in room 319. #ecprgc23
And now with data from Ecuador, @sumpierrez1 is integrating theoretical insights from electoral literatures with migration studies literature: incumbency, ballot position, party ideology …
Replying to @Daniela_Vintila
@Daniela_Vintila presents a co-authored paper next with fascinating data on Spain. Shows interesting variance in salience of diaspora issues in party manifestos and also how vote preferences of non-resident citizens have evolved.
Paper three is a really interesting comparative case study of emigrant voting laws in Poland and Lithuania from Magdalena Lesinska. Explores why important changes have happened in Lithuania but not Poland.
Paper two is from the @MobilEU_Project and Josefina Sipinen is presenting. Uses wave 2 project data and is looking at Belgium, Finland and Poland.
The first paper on the panel presents @mobileu data on the attitudes of resident citizens to emigrant enfranchisement. It’s broadly supported in the five country cases: Portugal, Poland, Belgium, Finland, Ireland. #ecprgc23
Our @ECPR_Migration panel in under way in Room 348. Everyone welcome.
The @ipsa_aisp membership token is really lovely. Plant it and get beautiful wild flowers. #ipsawc23
