AI is bringing shoppers. Is your checkout ready when agents buy?
Before accepting an agentās order, 6 questions need to be answered:
ā Identity: Which agent is calling?
ā Authentication: Can it prove control of its identity or credentials?
ā Delegation: Who authorised it to act?
ā Authorisation: Does that permission cover this purchase, right now?
ā Eligibility: Does the customer qualify for the offer?
ā Payment approval: Has the payment provider approved payment?
A recognised agent can still lack permission. A cheaper basket can still fall outside the customerās approval.
AIRās checklist separates these decisions so product, engineering and support teams can explain what passed, and what didnāt.

The most important technology problem of the next 5 years:
Creating a broadly accepted standard for agents to identify themselves to service providers, so that providers can adjust the way they interface with clients (as compared to human-based traffic).
In the interim (i.e., for the next 6 months), there will be a cat-and-mouse game that agents will play -- to circumvent detection and maintain their product's utility during this growth phase.
However, this will only be a stopgap and it will not be the terminal state of the world.
