🚨 Xabi Alonso on Chelsea’s loss to Tottenham Hotspur: 🗣️ “It’s a frustrating result, especially considering the way the game unfolded. We played for the full 90 minutes but failed to create enough clear-cut opportunities. We must take responsibility for our performance, although some of the refereeing decisions were very difficult to accept. “I don’t think Cole Palmer deserved to be sent off. The first yellow card was questionable, and the second one seemed far too harsh. In a game of this level, decisions like these can have a massive impact on the outcome, particularly against a difficult opponent like Tottenham. “We’ve seen similar controversies recently, including the incident involving Manchester City’s Phil Foden, and now another disputed decision involving Chelsea’s Cole Palmer. These situations are creating frustration across the Premier League, and there needs to be greater consistency from the officials. “Of course, we understand that referees have a difficult job, and we respect their authority. But football depends on fairness and consistency. Players and clubs deserve to feel that the rules are being applied correctly, regardless of the team involved. “It’s a disappointing evening for everyone connected with Chelsea. Nobody in the dressing room wanted this result, but we have to look at ourselves, identify where we went wrong and make sure we learn from it. “One defeat does not change our ambitions or our belief in this team. We have quality, we have character, and we know what we can achieve when we perform at our best. “We will review this game, correct our mistakes and focus on the challenges ahead. There is still a lot of football to play, and we are determined to respond in the right way. “We won’t give up, we won’t lose our belief, and we will continue fighting until the very end. Our story is far from over.”
