Somnath (48), a resident of Hosabettu, Surathkal, died by suicide on October 27, reportedly leaving behind a death note, after an incident involving the police. According to local allegations, he was arrested, insulted and filmed by police following a dispute near Kulai Fishing Jetty on October 25. His family and villagers allege a one-sided FIR and an unfair police response. The family, friends and villagers protested outside Surathkal Police Station, demanding justice. ⚖️ The allegations must be investigated impartially. The death note, police conduct, circumstances of the arrest and registration of the FIR must all be thoroughly examined. If any officer is found guilty of misconduct, strict legal action must follow.
