I've decided it's time for me to take a step back from Money Flamingo and to “semi-retire” the blog.
This post covers my reasons and a little update on our overall plan.

Lean FI, Fat FI, Barista FI, Slow FI, Coast FI (and, of course, Flamingo FI) - many alternative “types” of Financial Independence have sprung up over the last decade. In the latest article on the blog, we discuss what they all mean.

“Financial Independence is only for the privileged.”

Money Flamingo turns 5 today!
Exactly 5 years ago, on 8 May 2018, I hit "publish" for the first time, and the blog went live with the first article on Flamingo FI!
It has been an interesting ride, with many lessons learned along the way.
Thanks for being part of our journey!

In the latest article on the blog, I invite you to do a little thought experiment with me.
It reveals what most people get wrong on the path to FI, and it will also tell you a lot about your own journey to Financial Independence.

I'm a big proponent of semi-retirement (also called Semi-FI in financial independence circles) and the lifestyle benefits that come with it.
Today I wanted to share six different ways you can incorporate semi-retirement into your financial independence journey.
The part-time path to FI:
- Start working part-time or seasonally early on
- Invest a small percentage of your annual income
- Get to FI eventually, retire and live off your portfolio
