Pink is clearly the move because Dana Lawrence from Pacific West Bank crushed the fit and the panel she was on

I don’t think much has changed - lots of folks with no experience at startups or in the industry they’re building in get HUGE amounts of funding because they look the part and said the right buzzwords.
Something I’m not sure folks following the Synapse story realize. Its founder had zero experience in banking, finance, or fintech. In fact, per his LinkedIn, he had zero work experience at all:

Here's something I think folks will be surprised to hear from a salesperson... I do not believe a great product can be built by interviewing or speaking to customers. This is why sales should never, ever lead the product roadmap. What I believe/have learned is... 1. The founder is the visionary (holds a unique insight) and subject matter expert on how to solve a problem -- this is why everyone focuses on technical founders 2. The market is well-informed and experienced in its problems, which can help inform messaging, positioning, and prioritization. Hint: Never ask someone with an ongoing problem how to solve it; if they knew, it wouldn't be a problem. Customer conversations are incredible for understanding how the problem is manifesting: growing, widening, and/or its direct implications, but never feedback on the product. If you are to take product feedback, it is best to come from paying customers. Sales is unbelievable at understanding market reality and project management, but sales nor the market will ever give a startup vision, BUT they will provide you with where there is clear alignment to reality.

Haven’t personally run an outbound sequence in 7 years, and let me tell you - it’s a whole new ballgame (that I am very much late to)

What else should I consider? Already looked at Dripify (offers LinkedIn only) and Outreach.io (too expensive atm)

Back to early stage building and realizing all the early GTM peeps I know built in a v different market. Who are the peers in early stage (like for reals, pre seed - series A) GTM that I should be talking to?

On the way to @FintechMeetup and already ran into FinTech people at the airport - is this the new M2020?

Can we discuss how my $9 latte (separate rant for a separate day) was FREE because of a system wide @Square outage? Trying to make a @CashApp account but that seems to be down as well (also don’t come at me about not having a cash app account)

Found a #FinTech that rewards you for taking public transport. Love the wave of niche credit cards that reward me for current behavior. Quick q tho - if we’re driving towards tons of fit for purpose CCs, who’s looking at its impact on our current credit model?

If I’ve got 10 credit cards so I can maximize rewards earnings (which is the world niche cards are building towards) when are we adjusting credit underwriting models so consumers aren’t dinged for excessive credit applications?

Excited to see emerging fund managers who have operator experience! Much love to the @ExponentCap team - happy to connect any founders to Charley and Mahdi
Excited to finally share what @MahdiRazaMR and I have been building for the past few years! We’re thrilled to debut @exponentcap and announce that we’ve closed $75M for fund 2. TLDR - we write lead / co-lead checks from pre-seed to early A, NYC based, thematic generalists
