Wonderful tribute at the end of this evening's performance of @theproducersldn as cast, crew and audience joined together to wish the show's writer, King Of Comedy, Mel Brooks, a very Happy Birthday as he turns 100 years young. Joyous evening.
Eight years ago today I was attending the launch of actress Angela Douglas' new novel, Josephine, with friends Valerie Leon & agent Barry Langford.
I miss Angela. She's in a home now and her memory is poor. Happy memories of many fun times together. I miss that Angela so much.

Third time seeing @ohmaryplayuk. Third Mary. Third President. Second Louise and John Wilkes Booth. Show just gets better. And not your usual matinee audience. Wildly receptive. Raucously joyous afternoon. And time to pop into the National Gallery too.
Delighted Sir Ian McKellen is joining the show along with a host of other great names from the world of stage and screen... silver and television Over 1,000 tickets sold. Not many left. See link below. Do join us if you can.

Wishing a very happy birthday to @PaulChuckle2 MBE, one half of the former great double act with his late brother Barry - The Chuckle Brothers. A funny guy & lovely chap to boot.

Wishing a Happy 76th Birthday to actor & friend @Robin_Askwith. Made his first TV appearance in Z Cars in 1968 and, via the big screen & stage, is still on the box almost 60 yrs later in The Madame Blanc Mysteries. A fine comic performer & one of the nicest guys in the industry.

One the happiest & poignant events I was involved in co-organising was a tribute to Morecame & Wise at @PinewoodStudios where Eric & Ern made their 3 films in the 1960s. In their husbands' memory Ernie's wife Doreen (l) and Eric's wife Joan (r) reproduced the famous dance routine

I'm going Quincy ME.
Before shows like CSI, Quincy used real lab and science methods to prove whether deaths were murder or natural accidents. The series tackled public health issues, including drug abuse, child abuse & environmental hazards. And Jack Klugman was just the best.
Wonderful afternoon at the family of late Oscar-nominated art director Lionel Couch. From 12 Carry Ons to 1966 Bond spoof Casino Royale, and many episodes of Patrick McGoohan's Danger Man, holding original hand drawn artwork was special. Here in middle of pic with Charles Hawtrey
Many of my heroes, such as Kenneth Williams, led troubled lives. Their legacy to us was laughter. Our legacy to them on #WorldMentalHealthDay should be helping others in ways they weren't.

The wonderful Brian Blessed is 90 years old today. The much adored actor and raconteur has had the longest and most varied of careers. Here in iconic Flash Gordon in 1980 and also in The Avengers and Randall & Hopkirk Deceased in the late 1960s. All made at our @ElstreeStudios

NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN hit theatres on this day in 1983, and whilst it may not be “official” to some, we still love Sean Connery’s final #JamesBond film, but what’s the one change you would make that you think would improve the movie?

Two Knights are better than one. Remembering the late Sir Donald Sinden, actor, raconteur and friend, born this day in 1923. Here with Sir Norman Wisdom at @PinewoodStudios for a @BritComSociety event I co-organised in the late 90s. Happy days.

Have to add I did have my eyes tested. Very professional staff and no heavy sell. The chap asked if it was okay to take a scan of my eyes. I said "that's fine as long as you don't look too deep into my soul". He looked politely bemused.
Opticians just called.
"Mr Bright?"
"It is"
"This is @Specsavers. Just checking you're ok for your eye test tomorrow afternoon?"
"Don't you mean THIS afternoon?"
PAUSE "Oh you're right, this afternoon."
And so yes, I did say it, altogether now...
"Should've gone to Specsavers!"

Jeffrey Archer hosted 1,000+ charity auctions raising £51 million. He was a fan of British comedy & would host our @BritComSociety auctions @PinewoodStudios. For a day on set of Last of the Summer Wine he raised £14K. Peter Sallis said "thats more than we get paid to make it!"
"I'll call you Mo for short ... but not for long!" We used to laugh at that one. Remembering the late great comedy actor and entertainer Sir Norman Wisdom who died this day 16 years ago aged 95. A dear friend too, still greatly missed.
