Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says anyone claiming the ‘Digital Duty of Care’ bill threatens freedom of speech is lying, pointing to the fact Australians will still be able to leave him mean comments.
He insists the government isn’t trying to control what people see online, but give them greater power and choice.
When activist studios close down, it paves the way for non activist studios to make excellent products and not be bogged down by identity politics and "FROM THE STUDIOS THAT BROUGHT YOU..." without having any of the original team working on those products.
This is a fundamentally good thing overall. The fact that you can't see this is telling.
The funny thing about these posts is that EA still owns the rights to every title that BioWare had. They can just start a new studio and get them to work on it instead. It's much, much better than getting the devs who worked on DA Veilguard or almost any other BioWare product to continue to work on it.
Build a new team, no ideologues just people passionate about making good video games and you have a winning formula.

This isn't just cutting employees after a major project, you're shifting the goalposts by using SM2 as an example especially since the layoffs were more or less immediate.
There are more layoffs to come. At least try and use some critical thinking here. Other studios are seeing the writing on the wall when major studios are either being made defunct or just closed down completely. Sucker Punch cannot afford a failure.

Cutting employees after finishing a major project is fairly normal. Insomniac did the same in 2024, despite Spider-Man 2 being the fastest selling game in PlayStation history, and now now being the #2 best selling PS5 game EVER in the US, bundled sales not even included.
Sucker Punch have close to 200 staff now. When they made Tsushima they had around 160. So even with these layoffs, they have more than they did at the start of the gen.

I don’t understand what y’all’s obsession is with us. All we want to do is go pee in peace. When I go in I usually am so discrete so no one knows it. I do my business n wash my hands, check my fit n makeup n leave. Many times women have come to me & started chatting (in a friendly way), but that’s it. I’m not doing anything nefarious in there. Most women are actually fine with it. I haven’t had any issues in real life. No not because they were afraid or intimidated as I said many just like to chat, n I get so much support even.
Using the woman’s washroom is a matter of safety as we get harassed at best in the men’s washroom. Honestly when I’m not presenting, like on work days or whatever, I do use the men’s as I’m not worried, but when I am presenting, then it’s always an issue, in the men’s.

New study finds no clear physical advantage for transgender women over cisgender women in sports.
A major review challenges the claim that transgender women hold a clear physical edge in women’s sports.
After pooling results from 52 studies and thousands of participants, researchers in Brazil reported that transgender women had greater lean mass than cisgender women, but not greater physical capacity.
Across the data they examined, they found no meaningful differences in upper-body strength, lower-body strength, or aerobic fitness between the two groups after hormone therapy.
That does not settle the political fight. It does, however, narrow the scientific one.
The paper, published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, reviewed research on body composition and physical fitness in transgender people receiving gender-affirming hormone therapy. In their analysis, they covered 6,099 individuals overall. This included 2,566 transgender women, 2,646 transgender men, 442 cisgender women and 445 cisgender men. Forty-two studies were included in the meta-analysis.
Transgender women, the central result was striking in its contrast. Lean mass remained higher than in cisgender women, yet the performance measures most often cited in sports arguments did not show an advantage.
“This refutes the logic behind blanket bans on transgender women in sports,” said Bruno Gualano, a physician and researcher at the University of São Paulo in Brazil who co-authored the study. “Most of these policies are based on the assumption that transgender women retain inherent physical advantages and would therefore dominate women’s competitions. The data does not support this idea.”
The review found that transgender women had higher absolute lean mass than cisgender women, but similar relative lean mass.
It found no significant differences in upper-body strength, lower-body strength, or maximum oxygen consumption, a standard measure of cardiorespiratory fitness.
The authors also looked at how hormone therapy changed the body over time. In transgender women, one year of therapy was associated with increased fat mass, reduced lean mass, and lower upper-body strength. Over one to three years, the pattern pointed in the same direction, though not every measure could be tracked across every time span.
The paper argues that this matters because sports rules often treat muscle mass as a stand-in for performance. The new review suggests that assumption may be too simple.
