I’m in love with this sentence:
“One of the most underrated skills you can learn is the ability to ignore your mood and stick with the plan.”
There’s something strange about seeing more than 20 years of your life condensed into one newspaper page.
I’ve worn many hats over that time but the thread connecting them has always been culture.
I’m grateful to the @GuardianTT for this feature to mark Calypso History Month.

There is no fruit which is not bitter before it is ripe. Ripeness rarely announces itself early. The bitter stretch is often just the work learning how to become sweet.

The dignity we want for ourselves must be the dignity we demand for everybody.
That is the conviction Barbados brings to the world. Solidarity means coming together. Justice means being fair.
Thank you, Mayor @ZohranKMamdani, for your generous words and for bringing us together to put those values to work.
As for the cricket lessons, those must happen in Barbados!

"And in the hall graced by the presence of Sparrow...whoa-oa-oa
And when Slinger done with they tail
Hear them shouting,
'Don't go! Sparrow don't go!' "
First time since the show ended that I wish I was on TV tomorrow morning, just to do a proper Sparrow tribute.
Sigh, what a legendary catalogue.
There will never be another. Dr Slinger Francisco The calypso King of the world, The Mighty Sparrow.
Rest in peace
