Ever since I started dating my girlfriend, I’ve noticed that I tend to rush to the shower after we have sex. At first, I didn’t think much of it, but eventually, I told her that I sometimes noticed an unusual smell coming from her intimate area. The next day, she went straight to her OB/GYN and got checked. She did a full swab and STI panel, and everything came back negative except for bacterial vaginosis (BV). She started antibiotics immediately. After she finished the medication, the smell seemed to disappear for the first one or two times we had sex. Then I noticed it again. She suggested that I get checked too because she wondered whether something on my end might be contributing to the BV coming back. Honestly, I still hadn’t gone to get tested at that point.
