Very well done to my S3 (now S4 😢) Historians on creating their own wall display on the Scottish Wars of Independence! From measuring the backing, to the painting, to the creation of excellent sources - they did it all themselves 🤩

Did a bit of second-hand book shopping online for my Advanced Higher class. One of the books arrived today, apparently an ex-library copy, and look at that - signed by @simonmontefiore 🤩

What an Easter holiday! Very happy to announce that I became Mrs Lee (though Miss Howie will do until after summer to avoid confusion😂) and spent a beautiful week in Turkey 🥰 Bring on the summer term!

S2 were using their knowledge of trenches today to build their own! The rules: it had to be as accurate as possible and shield at least 5 people from attacks (though rather than shells we used bouncy balls). A brilliant (but messy) period 😁

Excellent work from S1 today! They were given the option to make a LEGO man showing what they know about Celtic people or a housing advert for them. I'm unsure where the cowboy theme came from but 10/10 for effort 😂

Can you imagine having a mentor for NQT year who is SO LOVELY that even once you're gone and no longer their problem, they will send you chocolate, a card, and an SQA Understanding Standards pack with HANDWRITTEN notes on where the marks were? I feel so lucky 😭🥰

5 weeks ago Thomas and I visited Banff for the first time. I was adamant that it is the only place I ever want to live again (we visited for 30 mins) and Thomas was adamant that a 35 minute commute is too much. Anyway, we're going up to get the keys to our flat tomorrow 😅

On my second placement I taught a lot in a classroom with bunting, funky folders, and a pillow with Dwight's face on it. It is the inspiration for my new classroom - everything must be funky. So I started with my resources boxes from TKMaxx!

Ah poor, sweet, naïve student-teacher-me. A year in the staff base with three other NQTs has really hardened me up.
