Leading up to the Science STAAR I gave students a 54 pg review packet. 4 every page completed, they got a 🎟️ for a water 🎈Yesterday, we had our water 🎈 fun. Today, we pass the STAAR test! Regardless of the outcome, I’m so proud of how much work these kids put in! – at La Porte, TX

My daughter had talked for several years about how much she loved her 5th grade teacher. When I finally asked her what she liked about that teacher, this was her response: “She liked US!” So simple… yet so profound. Kids gravitate to the teachers that like them.

Please stop saying that we need to increase teacher salaries in order “recruit the best and brightest” as if the best and brightest are not currently teaching. We need to increase teacher salaries because those currently teaching deserve and earned it.

5 tips for building class climate: 1) Talk to kids when they walk into class. 2) Learn 1 thing about each student. 3) If you have to get on to a kid, do it privately. 4) Apologize when needed. 5) Don’t take yourself too seriously.
