If someone ran a marathon and someone else drove 26 miles, I wouldn’t praise the driver just for reaching the same finish line
✨🔴LIVE NOW🔴✨
Getting spooked for #SS2026

"What's your biggest impact on the internet?" I told my friends I was pregnant, made a video to tell my small community, and YouTube decided EVERYONE needed to know a vtuber was having a baby. 🧍♀️

So I started reading Fourth Wing finally. Turns out I really missed reading! Starting on Iron Flame now. Can you give me some of your favorite reading recommendations? Preferably nothing too dark, but spice is nice as long as it's well-written. Oh, and no vampires. I'm allergic.
It's so fun getting ready for #SS2026! I'm changing my alerts and making new scenes, really flexing all these OBS muscles I haven't used in a year. I can't believe this is finally happening!
Today I went to my local coffee shop, and the new barista told me they stream on Twitch. Do I have to switch coffee shops now? 🧍♀️ I really like their coffee, tho...
So apparently I accidentally sent my delivery of baby stuff to my friends' house addressed to their kid. 🧍♀️ Do I still get to blame mom brain??
I will never stop singing the praises of my girl @HozshiArt We communicate so well, she's so thoughtful and professional, and I know every time I reach out to her with some dumbass idea of something I want to do, she's always game to figure out how to make it happen. Just amazing

Zoey said it more concisely than I could, tbh.
At best, I've seen agencies just not price in the cost of finding, retaining and upskilling good backend staff. Many seem to prioritize hiring their public faces (talents), because that's the most obvious revenue-bringing role...
But with backend staff, they hire cheap and inexperienced and think "they'll learn on the job, everyone does" - forgetting that learning on the job needs clear direction, examples of what good standards are (from uppers, senior staff, etc.), and support to achieve it.
Career progression structures and sponsored upskilling are meant to be that support - but they're investments many agencies overlook in favor of the more visible things (models, art) - which aren't cheap either.
Many of these companies may mean well and intend to offer better environments, but it's a really bad catch-22 (you need good staff to grow revenue, but need revenue to afford good staff) - and part of good leadership, or even being a talent manager, is understanding + mitigating that risk.
(Never mind that many people will take piss-poor deals to break into entertainment industry jobs, then burn out and leave - passion industries and all that.)
At worst...well. I'll be sharing my own un-NDA'ed story in the reply below. 👇
My opinion is that the VTubing scene could have far more high quality backend staff. But only if corpos were willing to pay salaries proportionate to the hours and skills required to be a manager.
I think that corpo work is still the best way to get genuine work experience in the field, but it comes at a real cost.
There's a world where the pathway looks like:
- get skills from other jobs
- join corpo as a manager
- have decent starting pay and a structure for career progression
- corpo upskills you to improve your existing skills, and grants exposure to new types of work to broaden capabilities
I know of too many cases where managers were and sometime still are working 60+ hour weeks for like $25k/yr. That's about $8/hr, it's no wonder most of us realise indie management is the only way forward on a career progression level.
Management is a huge, multifaceted role with many specialisations. Other industries worked this kind of thing out ages ago. All of the above can be applied to any backend role also.
I hope that Western company leadership figures take notice of that actively and understand it. Getting and retaining good staff, that remains loyal and can be developed internally, will only come from good compensation packages - and also development structures that don't roadblock staff from progression in their careers.
I woke up this morning to my cat Pebble staggering around, very weak, and throwing up. I took her to the vet and she has been hospitalised.
So far just her visit and testing there has been $1.7k and I will be going back at 1pm to see if she has improved, and if not we will be transferring her to an emergency vet for more testing and care.
They don’t know what is wrong with her yet so I don’t know how much her overall care will cost, it has already gone through all of my savings and more. I hate to ask but I need help I don’t think I could live with myself that I didn’t try everything possible to make her feel better and be prepared.
If anyone could donate to help out I would really appreciate it, Pebble has saved my life more than once and I genuinely don’t think I would be here without her.
