Honestly, birth plans are important but we really need to start putting an emphasis on creating a postpartum mental health plan. Like a full blown “just in case you start losing your mind” action plan—insurance info, therapist and physiatrist referrals. ALL OF THAT.!!!

No ever told me “me time” in motherhood would look like sitting in the dark. Phone in hand. Eyes burning. Heavy heart. Body aching. Just needing a minute after everyone is finally asleep, where no one needs me. It’s not rest, it’s not peace, it’s survival. And I do it every night just to remember I still exist.
