Thanks to @MsRMoore for this great measurement idea! The kids loved this activity. Thanks to @temucanada for the frogs! @dsbn @senatorgibson1
Our love of #Lego goes vertical.
A new #STEM challenge sparked by friends making flat marble mazes. We offered a further opportunity for them to build and try a vertical design where the marble drops down the pathway. @Richmond_Public
After reading "Pink is for Boys" by we had a great discussion about how anyone can like anything! When then mixed and explored some colour mixing and made our own shade of pink. Stay tuned as we will give each a unique name!
#pinkshirtday @Richmond_Public @dsbn
Thanks @Ticats and #53 Alex Fontana for the visit today. We loved hearing your #pinkshirtday message @Richmond_Public @dsbn
Our new wooden block people have inspired so much play! They are a new favorite. They have our names woodburned on the back too! What Would You Do in a Book About You was the perfect segue into making stories starring ourselves! @Richmond_Public
After reading Arnie the Donut it inspired us to design and paint our own wooden donuts. We will use these in our dramatic play next! @Richmond_Public
Two hands-on ways we were practicing syllables lately. Chomping the teeth to the syllables and the cards have the "answer " on the back so they can self-correct. Also sorting animal objects by number of syllables. 1/2
We found with using Heggerty our students were good at breaking apart 2 syllable words but needed some extra practice when identifying words with 1 or more than 2 syllables. @Richmond_Public
Welcoming our visiting newest Richmond St. Raptors and letting them know what we love about Kindergarten! @Richmond_Public @dsbn
A great turnout for the Richmond St chess club. Twice a week over 80 students from Gr.4-8 participate! @Richmond_Public @dsbn
See how we turned this box of free into 5 nature inspired centres for our classroom this week.
1. Loose parts pictures
2. Freeze items in water and "free" them with droppers and water (great fine motor play)
3. Some yummy smelling "soup" for the water table. 1/2
4. We made little brushes out of some of the different types of greenery and expermented with painting with them.
5. We added some bits to the motar and pestles and grounded them up.
2/2 @Richmond_Public
A favourite this time of year! High interest reading material!!! Free toy catalogs!! We read words, look for letters and numbers we know and even draw and copy words about some of our favourites! @Richmond_Public
Anyone else participating in #hourofcode this week? Unplugged coding is a great introduction to coding for our littles. @hourofcode @dsbn @Richmond_Public #HourOfCode
Sunflower Stamping 🌻🌻🌻
I was given these almost finished sunflowers from my local market stand this weekend for free. Thought this was the perfect thing to try! We used some acrylic paints and went to town - some fun process art!
