The ASMR of this woman’s makeup clanging to the floor was therapy to me as a gay child

Being stuck in functional freeze is making a list of all the things you’ll do: go the gym, clean, and read—but instead you’re sitting on a couch watching each hour go by wondering why you’re so “lazy.”

That's my Mum's story - but I often wonder how different things could have been, had adoptees been allowed to get vital information.
Instead of Mum's story connecting with her family starting at 47, it could have been 37.
Remember, M&B home survivors are everywhere. Help them.

So many trauma survivors have a tug of war going on between our bent toward perfectionism on the one hand, & shame that we can't keep our space clean or our bills paid on the other. It's exhausting-- & no one not in our head knows it's happening.
Easy does it. Grace over guilt.

Kids who were parentified growing up (which is a form of neglect, by the by) can be superstars about meeting others' needs-- but absolutely vicious w/ ourselves about our own needs.
The idea of being even sort of a "burden" to someone else tends to horrify the parentified kid.

I’ve been wearing a surgical mask at work for the past week, roughly 76 hours over 5 days. I know there are concerns about how masking affects health, wellness, and human connection, so I would like to offer a thread detailing the various ways that this has affected me:

It's super common for anxious trauma survivors to struggle to answer the phone, check voicemail, check email (or work email, at any rate), & check snail mail-- & it's super common to assume you're the only adult who struggles w/ such "easy" "adulting" tasks.
But-- you're not.

Just a reminder from a neuropsychologist that when they say “ADHD gets better with age” what they really mean is “Men present less hyper-actively” and forget to say “Women go through a HUGE hormonal transition (ahem menopause) and lose their sh*t and their ADHD feels untenable.” -Dr. Jen
Looking a new motorcycle helmet but would ideally love one that doesn’t give me a head like a god damn mushroom. Anyone got any recommendations for something safe but also svelte?! #motorcycle #helmet #moto #vintagemotorcycle #motorbike #accessories
