With 11.5% of voting districts declared, the CSIR is projecting the following national results:
* ANC: 31.5%
* DA: 26%
* MK Party: 9%
* Freedom Front Plus: 4%
* Patriotic Alliance: 2%
The biggest shift is between the ANC and DA. The ANC is projected to fall from 45.6% in the 2021 local government elections to 31.5% – a decline of 14.1 percentage points. The DA is projected to increase from approximately 21.7% to 26%.
This would narrow the gap between the two parties from approximately 24 percentage points in 2021 to just 5.5 percentage points.
Importantly, when comparing the exact same voting districts declared in both elections, the ANC’s support has fallen from approximately 44.5% in 2021 to 33% in 2026 – a decline of 11.5 percentage points.
The MK Party is projected to secure 9% nationally in its first local government election.
An initial margin of error of approximately 2 percentage points.

How does @CSIR predict elections BEFORE counting finishes?
Their model does not use opinion polls. It uses two things: 1) Historical voting behaviour 2) The order results come in.
It clusters voting districts with similar characteristics and extrapolates - so with just 5% of results, they can project the rest of the country!
