Muir head coach @TheMatt_V spoke with me following his team punching their ticket into the CIF playoffs with a 28-0 victory over Burbank on Thursday night. We talked about the good (5 turnovers) and the ugly (18 penalties) and how tonight’s performance will make them better.

Muir offensive lineman/defensive linemen Nate Knapp spoke with me postgame about his team reaching playoffs and what a 5 turnover performance by the defense meant for the Mustangs who had a 28-0 victory on Thursday night. @SGVNSports @TheMatt_V

Correction it was five turnovers tonight. 4 interceptions, 1 forced fumble.

Thomas Johnson and Jason Brown cause some chaos in the backfield and force a sack on third down for Muir. Burbank goes three-and-out on their opening possession.

Muir strikes first. Deveon Blaylock cuts left and runs upfield for a 15-yard touchdown run. On the play prior, Langston Brikley connected with Ethan Leyland, who made an incredible catch for a 19-yard gain. @SGVNSports Muir: 7 Burbank: 0 1Q 6:31

Burbank was driving downfield but then Muir's David Cannon Jr. picked off Damian Corona on their own 39-yard line for the second Mustang interception of the night Muir: 7 Burbank: 0 1Q - 1:11

Muir extends their lead by two touchdowns in the second! Deveon Blaylock runs up the middle for a 45-yard touchdown. So far everything is going right for the Mustangs. @SGVNSports

Muir's defense gets another turnover by stripping quarterback Damian Corona and recovering it on the Bulldogs' 28-yard line.

Muir goes into their 2-minute drill with 1:58 left in the second quarter and eats 1:32 of time on 11 plays and scores from a 2-yard rushing touchdown by Jason Brown. That's 3 rushing touchdowns from the Mustangs tonight. @SGVNSports

Muir picks up their fourth interception on the night. This time, cornerback Ethan Leyland picks off Damian Corona. A break the Mustangs needed, as they made three unsportsmanlike penalties on third down during the drive.

Muir might've put this game away with a 26-yard passing touchdown from quarterback Langston Brinkley to Marquice Garrett Jr. It's both's first touchdown of the evening. @SGVNSports Muir: 28 Burbank: 0 4Q: 11:21

Please ignore the awesome marching band that is Muir playing in the background; but I spoke with running back Deveon Blaylock Jr. following a 28-0 victory where his defense had 5 turnovers. Deveon ran the ball 10 times for 94 yards and 2 TDs tonight. @SGVNSports @TheMatt_V

Muir is playoff bound! The Mustangs are now 5-4 and will be 6-4 after next week. (Pasadena forfeited their season) Mustangs had 6 turnovers tonight (5 interceptions, 1 FF) while shutting out the Bulldogs. Deven Blaylock rushed for 94 yards and 2 TDs. @SGVNSports
