Sophomore Hadley Torrance represented the FFA program at the World Food Prize in Des Moines this week. Hadley researched a global food crisis, wrote a paper examining the issue and presented, joining students & leaders committed to addressing food insecurity around the world.

Muscatine High School senior Belle Seaman has been named first team All-MAC by the league's volleyball coaches. The setter and right-side hitter leads the MAC with 340 kills and a team-best .247 efficiency. She is school's career leader in assists (1,567) & kills (1,066).

Three members of the MHS boys golf team have earned All-MAC recognition following the fall season. Senior Will Reynolds received second-team All-MAC honors after an adjusted 9-hole stroke average of 39.06. Sophomore Gavin Estrada and junior Carter Gordon were honorable mention.

Muscatine High School's band department treated a nearly full MHS Auditorium to an outstanding evening of music Tuesday during its Spooktacular Concert. Under the direction of Jeff Heid and John O'Shaughnessy, the Muskie musicians delivered precise and powerful performances.

Muscatine Community Stadium was filled with music, talent and school spirit Saturday night as MHS hosted its annual Muskie Marching Band Invitational. More than 20 bands from across the region competed. Davenport Central earned the Class 4A title and overall Grand Championship.

Muscatine High School volleyball celebrated its seniors Thursday night, then capped the evening with a conference sweep of Central DeWitt. The Muskies won by scores of 25-19, 30-28 and 25-15, improving to 14-12 overall and 5-3 in the MAC.

Grant Elementary held its annual school carnival Thursday evening, and this year brought a new twist as the event moved from the spring to the fall. The change certainly didn’t slow anyone down — it was a tremendous turnout from our students, families and community!

The MHS girls swimming team extended its winning streak to five on Saturday, taking first place at the Sayles Invitational at the Carver Swim Center. The Muskies finished with 355.5 points, well ahead of second-place Williamsburg (260.5) and third-place Burlington (236).
