PRIVATE PETER ELWELU FILE: SECURITY MANHUNT IN TESO. Ammunition reportedly recovered from a swamp in Teso, believed to have been one of the locations where Private Peter Elwelu sought temporary concealment before relocating to another hideout. The security response has since been heightened, with an intensified manhunt underway to track down his whereabouts. The recovery of ammunition adds another dimension to the ongoing search and raises further questions about his movements and possible preparations. Should he be apprehended, he will face the due military justice process, including possible court martial proceedings, dismissal from service and a signed loss of ranks and a conviction for treason could carry the death penalty under applicable law. The priority now is to locate him, secure the recovered ammunition and bring the matter before the appropriate authorities.

THE CURSE OF UGANDA’S CMI/DIS: WHY MAJ GEN MUNANURA HAS THE HARDEST JOB IN THE ROOM. In Uganda’s military, becoming head of military intelligence may look like the ultimate promotion, but history suggests it is one of the most unforgiving seats in the establishment. It is the one job where you may need more prayers than congratulations. Look at the historical human cost associated with this position over the years. Gen. Mugisha Muntu who was one of the earliest heads completely parted ways with the establishment in 1998, turned down ministerial positions to become a leading opposition political figure. Brig. Henry Tumukunde who was another head from 1998, was arrested after the fallout, forced to resign his parliamentary seat, faced a grueling 8 year military court martial, and later was arrested again in 2020 on treason charges after challenging the presidency. Brig. Noble Mayombo who was a fiercely loyal head from 2000 was moved from CMI to Ministry of Defence in 2005. His "parting" from the state was final and physical, he suddenly collapsed and died from acute pancreatitis on May 1, 2007, triggering massive state conspiracy theories regarding potential poisoning. Maj. Gen. Leo Kyanda was abruptly removed from command in 2008 following massive internal scandals and effectively exiled into diplomatic postings abroad. Maj. Gen. Abel Kandiho served as CMI chief from 2017 to 2022, when he was replaced amid international tensions. In September 2026, he was detained alongside Brig. Gen. Charles Bakahumura over alleged treachery and fabricated intelligence. Maj. Gen. James Birungi who served from 2022 was arrested and replaced in 2025, court martial led, and imprisoned at Makindye over serious security related offences, including fabricating terror alerts for operational cash, before being publicly pardoned by the Chief of Defence Forces. Maj Gen Munanura has one of the most difficult jobs in Uganda’s security establishment. At CMI/DIS, the biggest test may not just be leading the institution, but surviving the job itself.

PRIVATE PETER ELWELU FILE. Some of the arms Private Peter Elwelu was reportedly stockpiling at one of his homes in the Teso sub region. It is also believed that he is on the run, attempting to access Nimule and cross into South Sudan before proceeding to another destination. Under Uganda’s Penal Code Act, Section 23, if evidence proves that a person possessed arms as part of a plan to wage war against Uganda or overthrow the Government by force of arms, the conduct may constitute treason, punishable by death upon conviction.

Private. Peter Elwelu branded M23 a terrorist organisation in the DRC and challenged the international community to deploy forces to allow him to crush them all in a single day. M23, however, is a movement of people fighting for the rights of their community. The same man rallying retired UPDF generals to defy support for Uganda’s next president, is he then planning to start a rebel force for themselves?

THE YOUNG MUSEVENI? Ruhamya Kainerugaba joined the UPDF at just 22. He doesn’t drink alcohol, doesn’t chase women, and is a committed serviceman who appears focused on discipline, personal growth, and service. He’s knowledgeable about Uganda’s history and current affairs, eloquent, ambitious, and intelligent. He understands the importance of knowing where a country has come from, where it stands today, and where it could be heading. He’s also a businessman who has experienced both the world of business and the military. That combination gives him exposure to two very different worlds of building enterprises and understanding the realities of national service. Ruhamya Kainerugaba is his grandfather’s print. Mzee Yoweri Museveni was in his 20s when he engaged with FRELIMO, received military training in North Korea, and later founded FRONASA. Different generations, different circumstances. Ruhamya simply has a little more privilege.

Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba - PO 001🇺🇬. 10th President of the Republic of Uganda. NRM🤝PLU.
I thank the millions of Ugandans, especially the youth for supporting our quiet and patient revolution. As Che Guevara used to say 'Venceremos!' We shall win in 2031!

No other African country can relate. This is the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF). The most dangerous army in Africa. Uganda continues to inspire Africa and its East African neighbors, including the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Kenya, South Sudan, Somalia, Tanzania, among others, through its security strategies and military superiority.

You can tell he said “Wewe wacha!” without him even saying it. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defense Forces at the commissioning of 280 officer cadets at Kabamba Barracks, Uganda.
2nd Lt Ruhamya Kainerugaba Museveni. By the way he carries himself and reads situations, you can easily tell that this young man is wise.

Throwback to 2016: Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of Uganda, alongside Joseph Kabila, then President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo addressing a public gathering. Nearly a decade later, Joseph Kabila is back at the centre of Congolese politics, having assumed leadership of the newly announced Front for the Refoundation of the Nation (FRN) in October 2026.

President Félix Tshisekedi’s political future in the Democratic Republic of Congo may entirely now be depending on his relationship with Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba the Chief of Defense Forces of Uganda. Should Gen. Muhoozi shift his support towards former President Joseph Kabila, President Félix Tshisekedi could face a serious political setback and risk losing the next election. Muhoozi’s influence is no longer confined to Uganda; his position matters in the wider Great Lakes equation.

WHY BANYANKORE DON’T EAT PORK. My grandfather told me that there was family that lived long ago during the era of Bachwezi. This family was lazy and refused to herd cattle. Instead, they survived by scavenging, eating scraps, and digging up wild roots from the ground like animals. One day, a great elder or spiritual medium came across the head of this family. The head was literally on his hands and knees in the dirt, gorging himself on rotting tubers and refusing to stand up to greet the visitor & showing a complete lack of obuntu. Disgusted by this behavior, the elder cursed the man and his descendants, saying: "Since you prefer to live like an animal that digs in the dirt and hides away in filth, you & your lineage shall become exactly that." The man’s body instantly began to morph. His nose turned into a snout, skin grew coarse & hairless, feet turned into hooves, and grew a tail. He ran off into the bushes, squealing, and became the very first pig. Some of you eat your uncles with extra chili.

13.10.2026. PLANT COFFEE TODAY AND YOU WILL THANK ME IN THE NEXT FOUR YEARS. The Uganda Coffee Group was launched today by Gen. (Rtd) Salim Saleh to coordinate investment across Uganda’s coffee value chain, from production and financing to processing, branding and international trade. Its proposed model includes coffee bonds, investment capital, guarantees and farmer-owned village agribusiness units. The strategic objective is to increase Ugandan ownership of the coffee value chain, expand local value addition and enable farmers and businesses to capture more economic value from the country’s coffee. The bigger objective is to move Uganda beyond producing coffee to owning more of the business behind it, ensuring that more of the wealth generated by Ugandan coffee is created, retained and reinvested in Uganda.

I have always travelled to the North at night. This time, however, I made the journey during the day, and along the Kampala Gulu Highway, I came across something quite interesting which was a government of uganda made signpost bearing the name BOBI. I thought maybe it was a campaign signpost but I was informed that Bobi is a sub county in Omoro District which was part of the larger Gulu district and that, in the local language, the word means strength. I wonder whether General MKM is aware of this. That in 2031, we will be campaigning in Bobi subcounty. Notably, both Members of Parliament from the district are NRM.
