Grim was always a punching bag in the show
While the other traits became more exaggerated later on due to the shows humor, it’s what makes a lot of the show funny and iconic in the first place and boils down to the writers finding their footing with them.

Charlie having flaws doesn’t make her have bad writing, if anything it makes her have better writing since she’s not a completely innocent main character who could do no wrong and doesn’t have anything to develop on. It also makes her connect with viewers of the shows more better

I’ve been seeing HT2 getting praise recently and #CloudyWithAChanceOfMeatballs2 deserves it too.
